Just like vinyl, cassettes, etc, owning digital versions of things will come back into style in a big way with a future generation. Having a huge library of my go to music is in my pocket. No data consumption, no subscription, just there to listen to in 24/96. Some of us never left. Wish Plex would serve us better in Plexamp.

Caveat aside:
It is amazing how we've been trained to disassociate productive work with exercise. I'm as guilty of this as anyone. It is all in the name of capitalism and commodification. We aren't truly making these decisions on our own.

Ride a bike to work? Nah I'll drive and go to the gym afterwards.

Cut the grass in my yard? No I'll pay someone and go to do my bikram yoga class tomorrow.

Jack-in-pulpit flower, Arisaema triphyllum. Related to calla lily, corpse flower, pothos, philodendron, etc. This particular species is native to the woodlands of eastern north america.

Ask a botanist about common names and they will tell you that they are confusing! What's a bluebell? Depends on where you live. This is a bluebell, Polemonium reptans. Not to be confused with bluebells in Virginia Mertensia virginica, nor bluebells in Texas, Eustoma russellianum, nor bluebells in California, Phacelia campanularia.

As we do our silly Chicago tradition of dyeing the river a violent shade of green, I think it's a good time to remind people that our ancestors reversed the flow of the river to provide safe drinking water from Lake Michigan and earlier, in the 1860's, lifted the entire city to improve drainage and public health.

Also Microsoft, we are working to make it impossible to use collaboration tools like Teams in Linux. You can no longer take calls in the browser, for instance. There is also no app for Teams in Linux.

Note: I don't WANT to use Teams, I am forced to by work.

It is regular talk; that slowly over decades, the center has shifted inch by inch to the right. There are many many reasons for this, but one of them is "electability" and solidarity with the democrat over the republican. Every election is deemed as life or death, when both controlling parties have far more in common than they do not. We are already seeing the griefing that the media does for why the center left hates Biden. If we don't have an actual staked position, we will tip to no return.

I recently noticed that the State of Illinois has changed the font of the stamping on license plates.

The design is the same, but the stamped text is a bit thinner and the glyphs are blockier.

I am surprised how much this change is bothering me, to be honest. It has never occurred to me how much that is a defining feature. The first one I saw I assumed had to be fake!

Perfectly normal for a public utility to roll out new #termsandconditions that revoke class action lawsuits from the public, limit the liability of the public utility, collect more data that may or may not include data on children, etc. Top it that all off with no ability to opt out, unless you cancel your electricity. This is fine.

Indigenous folks in North America were/are called terrorists for fighting back against European colonizers who were stealing their land, starving them out, genociding them, etc. It is written into the US Declaration of Independence, "merciless Indian savages." My wife may be getting contacts and ditching her glasses now that her vision has finally gone from something not bad like 20/50 to a bit worse than that. Get this: She had to take a class on how to use them.

Maybe this is common practice, I have no idea. All I know is, I first got contacts at age 13, and nobody taught me anything about what to expect or how to take care of things. I did SO many things wrong early on, it's amazing I can still see.

Overall, I'm really glad she's taking the class. She just texted me saying "OMG this is so hard," referring to her first attempts at putting contact lenses on her eyeballs.
