OK we've had spill-formulae for a while now. From what I have seen guidance around how and if we should use these spill-formulae in a financial modelling best practice context hasn't yet caught up....
I, for one, am looking forward to reading about how an #excel plugin was critical in the downfall of a major #EvEOnline player alliance in the coming months 😂
apparently, i haven’t done a proper #introduction yet!
i am misha. i’m in #NC, USA, but only because my wife’s family is from this area. i am from florida originally, and i hate what the fascists are doing to the place.
my #cat o’malley is my work-from-home co-pilot and best buddy. there are some pics on my page!
i enjoy #videogames, but i don’t normally consider myself a gamer. it’s just a fun way to pass the time. sometimes i play them on the #pc that i built, which was a super fun project.
i work in mortgages, but i’m the guy in our department that does all the #excel macros, data analysis, some database work, etc., mostly because i’m the only one in our group that understands any of it.
i’m introverted and nerdy, but am seeking to expand my social circle. i don’t usually start conversations, but get me talking and i can go for hours. my politics are left and progressive; i don’t like to “be political”, but the world we live in is political and we have to make it better.
I've been playing a bit more with #MicrosoftExcel these days
Although #Excel shouldn't be used to analyze data (don't use spreadsheet apps to analyze data, use #Rstats or an equivalent instead), Excel is by contrast very useful to store data in an organized way
🗳️ Excel spreadsheet error leads Austrian party to announce wrong leader | @washingtonpost
⎧ At a convention on Saturday, Austria’s Social Democrats (SPÖ) declared that Hans Peter Doskozil, governor of the eastern Burgenland province, was the new leader of the center-left party. But on Monday, the party said Andreas Babler, a small-town mayor and lesser-known figure, had actually won, with about 52 percent of the votes ⎭
That #Excel 2013 works with #Linux is good to know.
I will not throw away old #MSOffice licenses then.
For work, though, no go. I have been using the 64bit version since 2019 (and would like to have a 128bit version not infrequently 😉.)
How could I miss out on #VisiData for so long? This might become my new favorite #CLI tool.
If you do anything with data and enjoy working in the terminal, check it out. It can
• provide a #TUI for viewing and editing data in #CSV, #Excel, #SQLite, #JSON, #YAML & #XML files and quite a few more
• sort, filter, join and edit that data, across files and across formats
• convert between the formats (interactively or not)
• record & play macros
• be scripted in #Python
What is #Microsoft actually good at? Going thru their key products, it is clear they don't create new paradigms, they make often buggy implementations of ideas from other people: #BASIC#MSDOS#Windows#Word#Excel#browser#Bing#Cloud#dotnet. One thing they are clearly good is building a #monopoly. So it seems what they are good at is seeing good ideas, "embrace and extend" to control it, then building monopoly profiteering.
I have a Google form we use to record raffle entries for a cat rescue. Supporters enter by adding a Facebook comment with how many entries they want then one of the rescue’s volunteers adds them to the form - name and number of entries.
Is there then a way to get Google Sheets to automatically duplicate each entry (name) for as many times as the number of entries given in the form?
