Toinen havainto: Bluesky-seinällä on lähes pelkkää facebookmaista kuulumista ihmisten tekemisistä eikä oikeastaan yhtään uudelleenpostauksia kun taas Mastodon-listalla mielenkiintoisia boostauksia ja keskitytään yhteiskunnallisiin aiheisiin, meemeihin ja mielenkiintoiseen sisältöön.
Seuraan Fediversumin kontenttia paljon mieluummin, Bluesky usein unohtuu. X ei ole edes päivä- tai viikkojärjestyksessä enää, se vasta unohtuukin. Ja hyvä niin.
It never ceases to amaze me how hard people shit on Mastodon. This post is from Bluesky, but like, I have used Twitter, Bluesky, and Mastodon and I find Mastodon to be the EASIEST out of all of them.
On Mastodon I don't worry about my post text limit. I type until I am satisfied. On Bluesky I have to carefully craft my words so they make sense but still fit in an arbitrary character count of 300.
Also Bluesky doesn't have:
DMs
Hashtags
Pinned posts
GIFs or video support
Post editing
And more!
So like, where is the competition? I don't understand why they think it is hard. I open Mastodon just like Twitter and post just like Twitter. It isn't any more of a hassle than any other program, in fact the character limit makes it less of a hassle. I feel like the mental gymnastics are strong here.
Has anyone yet said ”I tried Bluesky, but it was confusing and there was this weird ”use staging server” part in the sign up when I got that strange invite, that place sucks so that’s why I returned to Twitter”? For crying out loud it’s a beta app and people praise it already as the next thing? :blobfacepalm:
Still wondering, are the familiar user interface and this certain "exclusiveness" (via invite) the only traits that attract people to join Bluesky? I mean it's so incomplete it blows my mind.

Someone publicly posted a git about some of the security issues with Bsky that I spoke about more than a month ago but did not really want to elaborate on.
It's not me, and it's out in the open, (floating around on Reddit) so boost away, until they actually want to fix it.

One exploit would be a fake link card from a fake url. So I could put something like <real bluesky website>/blog/selling-to-elon-musk, with a fake title and description and it'll show that on the post, without checking!! Since many people repost without clicking the link, it'll spread all over the place.
Finally got my invite and tried out bluesky. Didn't like it. No docs for setting up your own server, no hashtags, not much anything? The algorithm things are good, but overall the service is not worth it. The UI is like the old Twitter, but with clumsy proportions. Nope. I have re-read the magnificent article by @kissane, titled "Mastodon is easy and fun except when it isn’t". On Bluesky, she asked those people who had tried/used Mastodon and bounced off, what had led them to slow down or leave.
Couldn’t find people or interests, people didn’t stay
Too confusing, too much work, too intimidating
Too serious, too boring, anti-fun
Complicated high-stakes decisions
"I don’t know if Mastodon can grapple with the complexities of mass scale. Lots of people would prefer it didn’t—staying smaller and lower-profile makes it friendly to amateur experimentation and also a lot safer for people who need to evade various kinds of persecution. But if Mastodon and other fedi projects do take on the mass scale, their developers must consider the needs of people who aren’t already converts. That starts by asking a lot of questions and then listening closely and receptively to the answers you receive."

What I do like with #Bluesky:
• Text based search (some #Mastodon instances have it, and coming officially?)
• You can browse all users that someone follows (will need to check if this works with multiple instances)
• Custom algorithms as feeds that you can pick!
• Some communities are well represented (including #comics)
• Big new features appearing in relatively quick succession
Currently my biggest gripes with #Bluesky:
• No hashtags (not always is a sentence filled with relevant keywords)
• App feels clunky (scrolling, copy text, translate, posting content, no timeline marker) compared to native apps
• Still no gif and video support (I often hear #Mastodon needs to improve the latter as well?)
• No media tab, no likes tab
• Hard to follow specific topics, without hashtags, search results are limited
• Huge gaps in the communities
Remember Google+ and the hype that surrounded it - how everyone wanted an invite? Those are the vibes I’m getting with #BlueSky#BlueskySocial but worse - seems to be #Twitter lite
I appreciate that someone finally made a program to translate bluesky feeds into rss, but it is crazy to me if people really actually talk about the bluesky social beta in terms of the open web when every time I click on bluesky social post link it directs me to a page that asks me to sign up for a wait-list.
If the platform was intended to be open shouldn't the beta server's software have launched with the ability for everyone to read a post regardless of whether one owns an account. Will this be fixed in the offical release !? #BlueskySocial#BlueSky
