It's #BandcampFriday, where BC waives their fees from sales so artists get all the $$$. If you consider yourself a music fan, I'm challenging you to spend AT LEAST as much today at Bandcamp as you spend every month on music streaming services, OR MORE.
Who needs a little pre #BandcampFriday hype? Send me a song or two (no more than 10 minutes total) and I'll listen to them, do a little write up about what stands out about it (in a positive way), and post about it to my ~1.5k followers. No cost or obligation to you, but I always appreciate if you take a minute to check out my work, too! Just reply to this thread with a link to the specific song(s) you want me to check out (linking to your album and telling me which songs is fine too!).
oh god Songtradr’s takeover of #Bandcamp has ended up being way worse than anyone expected much more quickly. tl;dr: Songtradr isn’t honoring the union, has locked out employees from critical systems, and is basically trying to steamroll everyone in the handoff.
If you like songs & you like bass guitar, you might like my stuff.
Hmm maybe I'll do a thread later if I'm not too busy, with a few words about each of the 11 songs I've got up on Bandcamp so far, so people are more likely to find one they like.
St. Louis' STILL ANIMALS released their first self-titled LP today, and I've been waiting to hear all of this one after stumbling across them a couple months back and loving their demo.
After just listening to the whole thing, I can confirm, amazing catchy, solid garage rock songs front to back. Easily one of my favorite records of 2024 so far. Need to give this one a LOT more listens, but it's a perfect album for Bandcamp Friday - check it out!
Did my own #BandcampFriday purchases! A relatively small month, as I have recently spent all of my available cash on a new synth... but I did pick up my designated minimum: one discography, one thing from my wishlist backlog, and one thing new I discovered this month.
Good morning, afternoon, night, whatever works for you! It's #BandcampFriday and it's time for me to start a way-too-long thread about #music I produce and music I enjoy!
First up, we have my own album from last year, 51 Miles from Nowhere. This album involves some of the best musicians I've ever worked with. It's filled with raw energy, moody lyrics, and fuzzy guitar.
If you buy the LP, it comes with a copy of the Guidebook to Nowhere (a zine I made set within the fictional Deathrayverse filled with cryptids, an evil corporation, and general creepy vibes).
51 Miles from Nowhere is one of my favorite pieces I've ever released, and I hope you listen to it. My favorite reviews are "I'm not sure I like it" and "It's interesting." (there are also positive reviews, these are just my favorite).
Hey #Bands and #Musicians! Since this coming #BandcampFriday is the last one for a while, I am going to be doing some writeups for it. If you have a #song or two you want me to check out, say some nice things about, and post for all my followers, send me a link. You can just reply to this post for easy reference.
Here's the weekly #OPM digest ! A one-stop guide to #music selections from 8 Fediverse #Musicians . It's a great place to get some #BandcampFriday selections, or maybe find a new favorite artist.
As always, you can find a permanent archive of these, with slightly longer writeups, at my blog. The permalink for this week's is here:
Solidarity alert! #Bandcamp has been sold to #Songtradr, and Songtradr's CEO has not recognized the the #BandcampUnited union and is not promising to offer jobs to all current employees.
#BandcampFriday is doing its magic. I bought a track from a regional band, and they contacted me to say thanks and ask how I found them.
Yeah well, because someone mentioned them here, I guess. (MadEra from Freiburg, Germany) 🤘
Update: Submission queue is full. No more submissions for this time.
So, after a two-month hiatus, we've got another #BandcampFriday on the horizon! If you want a little reach and maybe a few new ears on your work between now and then, send me a link to a
something YOU made on Bandcamp, I'll listen to a track or two, write a few thoughts, and repost it for my 1k+ followers to consider.
All I ask in return is check out my work as well! Here's the link:
There's no #BandcampFriday this month but don't let that stop you from supporting #independent#music! Bandcamp's fees are actually very reasonable, and musicians need the money even more when there aren't events reminding people to spend some money. So, hey! Spend some money at Bandcamp this month!
My usual request is you spend the same amount you usually spend on music streaming, which is a pittance for most of us! Match those funds!
My #album has been compared to #TangerineDream, #SkinnyPuppy, #MeatBeatManifesto, an "alternate world dystopia" version of the #Tron soundtrack, "if #SnowCrash had a soundtrack," and been summarized as "mental but strangely hypnotic." Doesn't that make you the slightest bit curious? Because, c'mon, that is wild. Have a listen here:
