We're back baby! 2023 Seattle Anarchist Bookfair is returning to Vera Project on 8/26-27, 11a-5p both days. All sorts of cool shit. Free food and childcare. Wheelchair accessible. Wear a mask!
If you can make the hop to Warsaw, Poland, go to Kongresono 2023 IV - Anarchist Congress which happens June 8-11 2023 https://kongresono.info/
Interesting topic for how to increase our resilience, of which results could be brought to St-Imier in July, perhaps in the form of a workshop? If you wanna do that, propose it one here https://anarchy2023.org/en/program/proposals#anarchism
What struck me most about those who rioted was how long they waited. The restraint they showed. Not the spontaneity, the restraint. They waited and waited for justice and it didn’t come. No one talks about that.
Every single protest I hand my expensive ass bullhorn off to complete strangers and it always comes back to me. Every protest I prepare for the fact my speaker or the PA system could get damaged or potentially stolen. It doesn't happen. Kids were spray painting right next to me yesterday and being careful not to get paint on my set-up. Ethical vandalism. Carry on bro. And—while I was standing in the middle of a ratchet intersection block party—a sweaty protester in a mask came up to me and handed me a car key he found in the chaos. Then he want back to dancing. Ten minutes later a distraught woman came up and asked if anyone had returned a car key. Her lucky day.
Anytime something of mine has been lost, broken, or stolen at a protest it's been by the police. And I've been at some WILD fucking protests.
Louise Michel (1896)
"I became definitely an Anarchist when sent to New Caledonia, on a state ship, in order to bring me to repentance for having fought for liberty. I and my companions were kept in cages like lions or tigers during four months. We saw nothing but sky and water, with now and then the white sail of a vessel on the horizon, like a bird’s wing in the sky. This impression and the expanse were overwhelming. We had much time to think on board, and by constantly comparing things, events, and men; by having seen my friends of the Commune, who were honest, at work, and who only knew how to throw their lives into the struggle, so much they feared to act ill;
I came rapidly to the conclusion that honest men in power are incapable, and that dishonest ones are monsters; that it is impossible to ally liberty with power, and that a revolution whose aim is any form of government would be but a delusion if only a few institutions fell, because everything is bound by indestructible chains in the old world, and everything must be uprooted by the foundations for the new world to grow happy and be at liberty under a free sky."

“I am.. hoping that our future may be found in the past fugitive moments of compassion rather than and it’s solid centuries of warfare that, being his blood, as I can, is my approach to the history of the United States. The reader maze will know that before going on.” - #HowardZimm A People’s History of the United States
Kanaka Maoli nationalists are extremely controversial.
Anti-Zionists are extremely controversial.
Queer radicals are extremely controversial.
Marxists are extremely controversial.
Corporate media pointedly ignore all of them.
But those media love to cover Jordan Peterson and other reactionary hacks (including neo-Nazis). They don't provide that coverage because the subjects are controversial (see above). It happens because corporate media have an affinity for regressive ideas and a vested class interest in promoting them. By conditioning debate around spectacle, with a cast of smug and unlikable protagonists, reporters and pundits can ignore economic and racial injustice, even as they gesture at disapproval of the provocateurs they cover. (You disapprove of Peterson? Great! Maybe start ignoring him?)
Don't let reporters and pundits absolve themselves of introducing awful people to wide audiences by hiding behind sensationalism. The world has tons of controversial thinkers who are also insightful and compassionate. Arbiters of the newsworthy don't want to cover them. And they wouldn't be allowed to, anyway.
Pay attention to all that is missing from corporate media rather than assessing what they offer. The real story, as always, exists in the systematic absence of certain narratives.
Today in Labor History May 20, 1911: Anarchist Magonistas published a proclamation calling for the peasants to take collective possession of the land in Baja California. They had already defeated government forces there. Members of the IWW traveled south to help them.
Made another post with a drawing bc I thought it would help more. I want to confirm whether or not these are nazi/fascist symbols.
The one without a circle was found on a sidewalk. I became anxious that it was one. My mom guessed it could be a kid’s attempt at a snowflake (it was winter). But I was warned a Nazi visits my town occasionally.
The second was in a video. I am wary if this is a black sun variant

Today in Labor History May 8, 1911: The anarchist Magonista army captured Tijuana, with support from IWW members. As result, they now controlled of most of Baja California. During their short revolution, they encouraged the people to take collective possession of the lands, create cooperatives and refuse the establishment of any new government.
