@kkarhan I really hope that new EU law thingy will give us back phones with easily changeable batteries, but since the first released text kinda included something like that devices for special environments or situations or something may be exempt from it, I've been very pessimistic and expect every single new phone to be released as "yes, BUT THIS ONE is really specially water-proof, so, it doesn't apply to it!", from every single company.
Imagine if your car refuses to start without having an external jumpstarter connected and even then would only drive 30 km/h just BECAUSE you went to a car repair shop around the corner to have the windshield fixed BEFORE the nick would create a huge crack and every cop would pull you over and force you to get your car towed and fixed as it's not road-legal to drive with a cracked windscreen!
Since #Apple's devices are literally designed to be #fragile, I do think it's safe to assume if not demand that having parts from a donor machine should allow one to fix an issue...

Even #hp and it's #ProBook#Laptops with their #FUD-based #VendorLock for #RAM that literally bricks #PXE and remote/headless/timer-based booting don't literally lock up unbootable if you were to take a differen ProBook's RAM sticks, WIFI, WWAN, SSD, Keyboard, Screen.

@MaryMarasKittenBakery considering the amount of easier or at the very least systemically more useful things to do, I'd argue that accessible #PublicTransport and making railways more attractive would have a more lasting impact that something that by it's very nature is pushing more harm than good.

Also, speed limit enforcement happens much more with (un-crewed) speed cameras here, which lowers the chance of extra fuckery. @MaryMarasKittenBakery

And no, it will not mean tool free, but allow some minimal standard tools and reasonable effort. Headlamp (H1/H4/H7) replacement rules for cars will probably be a template here.
@SebastienK if you have to deal with State-Sponsored attackers that can leverage #TEMPEST-based #Exploits than you shouldn't use said devices to begin with but instead use a more rugged system.
