For anyone unaware, Google Chrome is currently rolling out an update that track your interests based on browsing history, then share them with 3rd party websites. The notification page makes it sound like they added a new privacy feature, but in actuality they automatically enrolled you into their tracking system and you have to go and manually opt out.

@MacropodCare @malwaretech @torproject #Brave is yet another #Chromium and they also integrated that #WebDRM bs into that as well...

So no.

Just get #Firefox and add some basic #plugins (tho these should be integrated per default!)...

There is NO VALID REASON to glue-in batteries and not make them user-serviceable!

Unless you're an #AntiRepair #asshole #corporation like #Apple!

On the subject of #WebDRM and Google's latest authoritarian dream, I've found this nugget of history useful. Apparently, Safari already implements an attestation mechanism that works in the Apple ecosystem. https://httptoolkit.com/blog/apple-private-access-tokens-attestation/

Can Google sink lower than this?

Google employees publishing an extremely toxic #WebDRM proposal in their own names, then raining down with "respectability politics" on the comments.

Framing centralized control of who gets to browse the Internet as "safe for users" is playing the age old card of authoritarianism being in the interest of the "weak and feeble-minded".

There will be no civil engagement with proposals of domination and coercion.
