#OpenAI removed accounts associated w/well-known #propaganda ops in #Russia, #China & #Iran; an #Israeli political campaign firm; & a previously unknown group originating in Russia that the company’s researchers dubbed “#BadGrammar.” The groups used OpenAI’s #tech to write posts, translate them into various languages & build software that helped them automatically post to #SocialMedia.

OpenAI has started training its new flagship AI model, which will replace the GPT-4 technology currently behind ChatGPT.
The leading AI company announced the news in a blog post, stating it expected the resulting systems to deliver the "next level of capabilities.” There’s also a new Safety and Security Committee coming, it said, led by OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman. What could possibly go wrong? @Mashable has more.
The company's obsession with #AGI doom is a deliberate distraction from the real evils of their work:
• promoting bias
• presenting misinformation masquerading as authoritative truth
• appropriating the value of others' work for its eventual profit, and
• consuming massive amounts of energy contributing to environmental degradation.

@pallenberg Es ist wirklich unverständlich, wie OpenAI so sehenden Auges in das Problem laufen konnte. Bei der Funktionsweise des Modella sind möglichst gute Trainingsdaten unerlässlich. Das Umsteuern (Lizenzverträge mit Zeitungen, Verlagen etc.) kam viel zu spät.
Entweder dachten die, dass es schon noch mal irgendwie gut gehen wird. Oder sie sind dem Traum, dass Transformer-Modelle tatsächlich irgend etwas "verstehen" könnten, selbst erlegen.
