@ben We all told everyone so. All of you. But you all dumped usenet news, public forums and other systems for fancy commercial ones. You all ran to Discord instead of continuing IRC. You all went to Reddit. You all went to Stack Overflow. Oh it was so "convenient".
Or back in time you all thought it would be cool to add information to IMDB without getting paid.
Now we have the fediverse. And what do people do? They sign up for Bluesky and Threads or stay on X "because the press is there, too".
#TMobile USA sends mobile phone usage data to #PushSpring, which T-Mobile acquired in 2019.
T-Mobile assigns a unique ad ID to your cellphone and gathers app usage data.
To opt out and remove all data of you, there's an app - "magenta advertisements platform".
For me it's horrible that they do so without telling and that the app is somewhere hidden - no one would come up with that name!
One thing I still do not get is why such a dangerous socket/plug system for #electricity#electricgrid#grid connections was approved and widespread. This is not cool. Especially if you have young kids.
@vegos_f06@DerSchulze Two had the same idea in France and in Germany. So now most plugs accept both sockets. They have the hole for the male ground pin of French Cenelec sockets and the contacts for the ground spring connectors of Schuko.
“#France’s Senate on Wednesday adopted a bill meant to enshrine a woman’s right to an #abortion in the French Constitution, clearing a major hurdle for the legislation.
@trabex@GottaLaff The US as driving force gave Western Germany a federal political system with states and they fixed one mistake already from the beginning: Proportional voting. Gerrymandering became useless, it wouldn't change anything.
"[Scotland] would tend to be in chronic surplus to a quite embarrassing degree and its currency would become the hardest in Europe, with the exception perhaps of the Norwegian kroner."
Read the 1975 McCrone Report in full. Then reflect on why it was buried by successive UK governments for three decades and is still taboo at Westminster.
"The McCrone Report coverage has no paywall. We believe it is vitally important that everybody can access it."
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious@Indyposterboy Simple. In the UK it went via dividends and share selling into the pockets of the wealthy. In Norway the oil and gas extracting company Statoil is owned by the state and the revenues moves into the pension funds for Norwegian retirees.
@knittingknots2 A white old "Christian" thinking he had absolute power sues a genuine Christian church organization for doing Christian Jesus things! That is #Texas. That is #GOP.
Something different - if you run an older version of #Mastodon, please upgrade asap. There is a security problem which could allow others to take over accounts.
One of the things I don't like is that services like #FediDB actually collect version information so you can just ask the service "give me all the vulnerable servers." The .well-known/ link tells you the version.
The article only talks about Apple but the proposed amendments of the IPA (sadly not the beer but the Investigatory Powers Act) would require any manufacturer WORLDWIDE to stop fixing a software bug which is exploited by UK law enforcement or secret services. Such an overreach is unprecedented.
They're so delusional to think they could enforce that worldwide.
For those continuing to cycle the same "argument" over and over again "Do not build new railroads, #autonomouscars will solve everything! We will not need trains anymore! AI! Self driving vehicles!one!!eleven!!!....
Last weekend due to track overhaul, there was no subway between Euclid Ave and Howard Beach/JFK Airport resp Lefferts Blvd in Ozone Park,
The buses ran so frequently that they had 2 cars(!) in average between - and all were full! Congestion. Just to replace one(!) subway line!
It is sad that when mentioning #kids or doing something "to protect #kids" no due diligence is ever made - that it what happens with #KOSA - an act to protect children from harmful content on the Internet.
The #GOP/#Republicans already stated they will use this to ban #LGBTIQ content on the internet.
Sadly #Democrats and #Biden do everything to pass that bill because no one wants to be the one "to be against protecting kids". Sickening.
Meanwhile in #Germany: #Berlin halts #tram and #bicycle extensions to prevent parking spaces from being removed, builds streets, extends the A100 city #Autobahn and allows parking on bus lanes.
#Dating in #NYC - an endless series to discover - part 3.
"What can you and your family chip in for an apartment? U know NYC is tough and marriage is just financial stability for me, U know I'd still like to have fun outside" - at the first dinner together.
In #Germany you can start a trust in the interest of the #Kremlin, let #Moscow fund it with millions, circumvent #US#Sanctions with it and then let a public servant burn its tax return in flames and you still remain governor of the federal state of #mecklenburgvorpommern.
The new #DefenceMinister in #Germany is the signal that chancellor #Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz is clearly siding with #Russia. #Pistorius wanted to lift sanctions against Russia in 2018 and he gets laudatios now from the far left, far right and #Kremlin-#Vatniks. Germany no longer an ally.
Expect more "NO" to deliver weapons and more proposals for the #Ukraine "to accept to lose territories but Germany needs gas".
Pistorius was member of the "German Russian friendship organization" until 2022.
