One thing AI is actually pretty good at is transcriptions. Aiko is free, open source app for the job that works entirely offline: https://lifehacker.com/tech/aiko-free-ai-transcription-app?ref=jhpMastodon

I'll say "post-COVID infection," never "post-COVID pandemic."

I'll say "since COVID began," never "since COVID ended."

I'll say "after pandemic caution ended," never "after the pandemic ended."

I'll say "what we know AS OF NOW about COVID," because the story of #COVID19 won't be complete until we know what 5 or ten infections do or, for that matter, what a virus that can remain in the body causes ten years after a single infection.

We have much to learn. Many will learn the hard way.

I’m riding in a car crossing north Indiana, relaying NOAA Kp data and Mastodon aurora sighting locations to a loved one on board a ship just off the coast of Ireland via SMS, and I’ve rarely felt so Gibsonian.

Many yearn for the "good old days" of the web. We could have those good old days back — or something even better — and if anything, it would be easier now than it ever was.

The current atmosphere is making it frighteningly easy for fascist actors to groom lonely people who are rightly horrified by what is happening in Gaza (and what is happening in the USA to suppress dissent) into antisemitism. We need to be there to try to pull our friends down off the ceiling, especially if they go from posting for justice and peace to conspiracies about Jewish people. Netanyahu is not Israel, and he is not the Jewish people. He is a criminal trying to save his own ass.

Let me explain this real slow.

  1. I borrow $100 from you today.
  2. I pay you $10 every day for a year.
  3. I have paid you back $3,650
  4. I still owe you $90 somehow.
  5. You then "forgive" the $90 debt.

In this scenario, absolutely nobody is paying anybody $90. Nobody is being stiffed $90. Nobody is being forced to pay someone else's $90 debt. Absolutely nobody is "getting a $90 handout for free".

What's happening is you have been paid back your original $100 and then profited a mere $3,550 on top of that and we're saying that's enough profit.

This post is about student loan forgiveness.

Updated the #wikipedia articles on #solarpunk (in german and english) with this great picture by commando jugendstil (are they here?) and @alxd (CC-BY-SA) https://alxd.org/nudne-science-fiction-uratuje-swiat-pl.html#nudne-science-fiction-uratuje-swiat

Before, the articles mainly had skyscrapers with shrubs on them and pictures of the singapore gardens, which, you know, look solarpunk but don't quite carry the spirit as much as this one does.

We should all just make shit up about disasters. I'm going to say the earthquake was a sign from Kurt Cobain. He wants us to know he's furious about transphobes.
