Zoe has been making some important content about PragerU's effort to creep into public schools. Her main point is an important one: It's not just that this content comes from an extremist right wing group with extreme views: it's also just not very good. It's all videos and multiple choice questions-- none of it very thoughtful.

But what would you expect? These people don't really like education or think it's important.

I'm running a homebrew Strixhaven game for some friends; the book is pretty disappointing so I'm basically rewriting it from scratch.

Here's a custom report card format I made this morning! I'm still working on some updated downtime rules to go with them. I plan on sharing the module as I go, so you can try it out if you want, too!

I follow COVID scientists here on Mastodon. I've seen them post links to studies showing waning effectiveness of COVID vaccines after 6 months.

I received the updated booster last October and want to get boosted again prior to some planned travel in July. (Air travel to the MAGA anti-vax cesspool known as Florida)

I have contacted three pharmacies in my area.

One has no COVID vaccines at all and said they won't receive any until fall.

The other two say they will not vaccinate me because they must follow US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines stating that only people 65 years and older should receive boosters at this time.

They won't vaccinate me even if I am willing to pay out of pocket.

Both say I must get a recommendation from my health care provider before they will even consider it.

Less than 20% of people in my state are up to date on their COVID vaccines. For those of us who want to follow the science and not some arbitrary age limitation, why not let us get vaccinated?

Question for fellow library nerds: I recently found a book from the 70’s which has “Return to Morgue” printed on the side no less than four times.

I’ve see this on correspondence before, but never understood what it meant. Surely they don’t mean an actual morgue (why send a book or letter there?) so I was wondering if this was a library or archivist term.

This particular one is “Investigative Reporting and Exiting” by Paul Williams, which is out of print.

Fittingly, this is an old term in investigative reporting and newspaper archival. It means it’s been filed away as reference material.

This one was probably pulled out more than once, and held onto for a while. It’s seen some things.

I’m actually super early in my career, so no this doesn’t pay the bills and in fact I’m not even seeking employment in it. I make maybe $30 a month via Patreon?

What I’m discovering is that the profession is kind of in free fall. People like me are very much not invited to the table professionally, but Im really passionate about it, so I just write and study it for the love of the art.
