Any #longcovid #support groups on here? I'm having a pretty seriously hard time and could use some LC-experienced folks to talk to.

Wow... #Tesla open-sourced all their patents!

That was smart of them to release the charging equipment patents, so that it will become the defacto (it's technically better than the alternative in most respects anyway).

But... ALL of them? Did not see that one coming.

Good on them - I'll still never, ever, erver [sic] buy one.

How about just this once, we all allow ourselves a pass and just vote for the one that is the least the worst, to make sure we AT LEAST keep our democracies.

It will be much easier to fix if our baseline is democratic rather than fascist. It's taken hundreds of years to get this far.

Ok this caught me off guard...

I was having an internet search for "adult tinker toys" and came across this online shop. Ah! Pro tinker toys. Cool. I look around, and it's not what I want - mostly memorabilia.

And then there's the FAKE MASKS section.

Ummm, what? This is something people are doing? They're PAYING for a pretend mask?

Just... what?

Have you seen it since 2020?

It doesn't hold a candle to today's supernovae of stupidity.

It's really pretty sad to see so many people just shrug it off and stick to the status nazi-supporting quo.

I'm several decades familiar with many, many programming languages, but have about a half-dozen that I'd consider daily driver languages. #python is not one of them.

I'm writing a lil' thing in #py, and have to keep looking up what modules to include for basic things... and every single time, the answer is exactly what I would have intuited.

"What would I call my datetime module if I were me? I'd call it datetime." It's datetime.

"If I wanted today's date, I'd want 'date.today()'". Yup.

I guess that's why it's so widely recommended as a starter language. Not starter because it's lacks advanced features, but because it lacks unnecessary confusion!

Inspired by @meshe, I have begun moving my back catalog of ~100 "music videos" and live performances from their various corners of the interwebs into a #Peertube instance that I own and control.

If no one is going to see my stuff it had may as well not be seen on MY platform, rather than theirs!

I'll be talking about PeerTube a lot in the near future. In the meantime, here's a video from the archives:

Last night I saw #OnTheBeach staring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner.

At first, life seems pretty swell for the hip-set military crowd at the onset of the middle sixties, but an ominous undertone begins to surface, revealing the hideous reality that life on earth was about to become extinct - in waves, no one entirely sure when - but certain of it's arrival.

Through the course of the film we follow several different relationships, and a plethora of reactions to the impending cull - all meant to hold a mirror to some facet of ourselves, desperate to remind us all: "there's still time, but it's running out".

Just as applicable, only a little more real, and a lot more urgent, this 65 years later.

You can watch it for free, legally, below, thanks to #InternetArchive!

I will be blocking anything that attempts to put meta into my timeline. Same goes for Google and Microsoft.

Wake up ! The real honest-to-goodness US-style is back, and they're coming for all of us.

Keeping this horror out of our is up to the people of , - a beautiful river community, generally thought to be quite granola. They're about to get a taste of heavy racism, misogyny, bigotry, hatred & intolerance.

It is so, incredibly vital to keep this destructive force away from our laws, our reproductive organs, and our selves, family & friends.

Please share on other social media where folks from NB are likely to be.

Bonus if you have navigated the system with #cfs or #longcovid, as that's what's got me.

There's practically no "fi" left in #sciFi... The last decade has churned out one limp sci-fi wetdream after another. Hoverboards (that don't hover), self-driving cars (that can't), civilians in space (read: billionaires), AI (that is anything but), and now - the long-anticipated and almost entirely useless see through display.

The result of spoiled tech billionaire babies skimming a century of science fiction's implicit warnings of the ramifications of unchecked technology with societal inequality. They have failed to ingest any of the point.

My last day at work has been scheduled. In just 3 shifts, my 25 year career in #proAudio comes to a screeching halt while I enter the terrifying world of #disabilityInsurance.

All this because I caught #covid19, once, at work, in June 2022, despite having 4 vaccines.

The first 12 weeks were bad. Then I got a little worse each week. My weight tanked. I am 6' 3 and was a little over 200lbs (my normal weight). A year and a half later, I presently weigh 145 and dropping.

I was diagnosed with #meCFS, #PEM, #POTS, and am still having tests (CT, gastroscopy, biopsy) done on my GI.

#LongCovid is very real, and has robbed me of the luxury of clear though, easy movement, and a "normal" life.

Don't get Covid. Don't get Covid again. #WearAMask, please.

Here's a condensed video I made earlier this year of a 1940's #US department of education video that explains how to #solder.

It covers all the core concepts, as well as execution and even best practices - and all in under 9 minutes!

I'll bet you a #canadian dollar you can learn to solder by watching this 75+ year old video once.

This condensed educational film visually demonstrates the process of soldering using live technicians in a lab, as well as animations to illustrate various concepts. The film is narrated by a man who explains all that takes place.

A #Tascam #MP4K, which has #xlr balanced audio out, as well remote control it via #rs232, or #tcp !

No one has written anything for it that I could find, so I wrote a #FOSS library/cli-in-one in #php, and call it Tasnet!

With it you can:

  • power on/off
  • open/close tray
  • play/pause/stop
  • change display time (remain/elapsed)
  • even more!
  • hack away (copyleft/MIT)

I understand their point to a point, however, the solution to windows spying is, ultimately, to not use windows.

It's really not that bad, folks. If you're ready to stop paying hundreds of dollars for the pleasure of having all your data stolen, hit me up, and let's figure something out for you, today!
