"No cervical cancer cases have been detected in women who have been fully vaccinated against HPV, Public Health Scotland has revealed."

Vaccines work!

"Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone." — Michael Okuda

Without vaccines, many transmissible diseases were once an early death sentence. People are so quick to forget how fortunate we are to have access to them.

Wow. This email from a UK hospital instructs healthcare workers not to test for COVID because it might keep them out of work for longer. What happened to "do no harm"?

A new study suggests that fully remote workers may produce less than half the climate-warming emissions of people who spend their days in offices.

It's stunning that the technical leader of the World Health Organization's COVID-19 response, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, publically reaffirmed that COVID-19 is still a global health threat and still a pandemic, yet hardly any media outlet has covered this except for this one.

Let’s get this right. Scientists didn’t fail to communicate the risks of , they have been warning us for a century. Our policies are failing because after knowing the risks, fossil fuel companies spent billions of dollars blocking meaningful action on .

Twitter/X is now removing headlines from links and Threads/Meta is prohibiting searches of public health terms like Covid and vaccines.

Billionaires are dangerously restricting people’s access to news.

The Washington Post: Threads blocks searches related to covid and vaccines as cases rise Public health experts denounced the platform’s moderation policies, which they say restrict access to critical health information

"The era of global warming has ended. The era of global boiling has arrived.

The air is unbreathable, the heat is unbearable, and the level of fossil fuel profits and climate inaction is unacceptable.

Humanity has unleashed destruction. This must not inspire despair, but action."

— United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres

This is unethical. Bosses are forcing employees to come into work sick with active COVID. This is why labor organizers need to incorporate public health into their demands.

We are living in an age of denial. Denial of a genocide. Denial of an ongoing pandemic. Denial of a climate crisis.

Acknowledging reality is an act of rebellion.

We haven’t had a COVID inquiry yet in the US, but take note, we would reach a similar conclusion.

If you've fallen out of practice of wearing a mask, this would be a good week to start again! COVID rates are rising because of a new variant, and because many people will have gotten sick over Thanksgiving. Your best protection is wearing a high quality mask.

City of Hope in Duarte, California, has maintained masking requirements, and this has prevented hospital-acquired #COVID19 there entirely, according to Vijay Trisal, MD, chief medical officer at City of Hope.

“Our policies enabled us to achieve zero nosocomial infections, zero outbreaks.”

Every government’s real policy for the climate crisis

The bare minimum we should have learned from a devastating pandemic that has killed and disabled millions is that we should stay home when we are sick. Yet, governments beholden to corporate interests are determined to make sure we don't even do that.

Great news: Free KN95 masks are now available from public health vending machines in NYC.

This is amazing work! Not everyone can afford to buy high quality masks regularly. If we want more people to wear masks, high quality masks should be available for free everywhere. Having them in public health vending machines in NYC is a great first step!

Today we launched NYC’s first public health vending machine. Located in Brooklyn and hosted by @sus_org, the machine provides 24/7 access to free, lifesaving harm reduction supplies, including naloxone.

4 years ago today, the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic.

Today, we will rightfully remember the tens of millions of people who have died. We must never forget.

But we must also remember that COVID-19 is still killing, disabling, and excluding too many people today.

We are still in a pandemic. We still need to act.

Still my favorite segment about why it's a bad idea to participate in bad-faith "debates" about science. They only result in further amplifying disinformation.

"People still think this issue is open to debate, because on TV it is. It's always one person for one person against. When you look at the screen, it's 50/50, which is inherently misleading."
