At the end of the day, COVID-19 made people realize:

• They could work from home and that most offices are shitty places.

• Their job was really shitty.

• Governments could finance pretty much anything they wanted.

• Global warming could be stopped.

• The really important jobs were the ones that are the worst paid (nurses, for instance).

• Most governments are run by idiots, who are in the pocket of the wealthiest.

As we hear reports that it will take 10 years (🤯) to replace the 1.6 mile Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore, remember that China built the Danyang-Kunshan bridge and Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in 4 years each.

Danyang-Kunshan Bridge is 102 miles long, and 100 ft above the water.

Jiaozhou Bay Bridge is 16 miles and 623 ft tall, earthquake and typhoon proof, and can withstand a direct strike from a 300,000 ton cargo ship. That last point is unfortunately topical.

So, given the recent announcements by 'Mastodon' HQ, it seems like a forgeone conclusion that every posts ever made on the Fediverse will be used at some point as AI fodder.

If you have an account on mastodon.social, you should consider migrating to another server ASAP.

If you have an account on any other server, now is a good time to check the settings of your account through the web interface and make sure the option "Opt-out of search engine indexing" is checked.

Things I really want my phone to do:

1. AM/FM radio. My 1999 flip phone could do it. We know the electronics is in there in pretty much every phone sold.

MW/LW/SW and digital radio a bonus.

2. Encrypted text messages through Bluetooth paired phones and/or relayed mesh networking without access to GSM telephone poles.

You will never see this, because it will be deemed a security risk by every single government under the sun.

3. Solar panels on the back for charging the battery.
