Someone in the village must have got a fat fine or even a ban for #speeding - the local speedwatch sign has been destroyed - even though the electronic "SLOW DOWN" sign cannot result in a charge even if it contains a camera (some do!) -All that happens is after repeated hits the registration mark is put on a list, driver gets a warning and the list sent to #Suffolk Constabulary (so they would have to be repeat offenders to actually get a ticket) #RoadSafety
If anyone is wondering, in the city where I work, why their UPS parcel has been delayed: the driver spent time talking to me, trying to think of a way to retain their driving license.
They'd be better off keeping their foot off the gas pedal, and planning a month's holiday pretty soon.
Four and a half hours at work, and just about to reach one hundred speeding tickets. Not that anyone cares about speed limits (clearly!) or this Kindergarten.
Just posted the following on #nextdoor Very curious about the responses if there are any.
"Why doesn't Highway Unit 1 enforce the 50mph speed limit on the West Side Highway? There are so many collisions there caused by drivers obviously going way more than 50mph. So many sirens. So much cost. I would assume all that expense raises car insurance rates. People are always complaining about their high car insurance rates. Makes no sense."
Car dependency in Australia is unquestioned. The 'road toll' is a sacrifice to private mobility in sprawling sub-urbia. The present 'mobility design' gives people no options to travel on (fossil fuel free) public transport, walk or cycle without fear of being maimed or squashed by a SUV.
#Django performance shock - 30% of our unit test time was taken by user creation (we create a new logged-in and non-logged-in user for each test) and almost all of that time was spent hashing passwords! Mocking the password creation shaved nearly 2 minutes off each ci run 😀
As soon as next year, drivers in Los Angeles, Long Beach and Glendale could be getting speeding tickets in the mail under a pilot speed-camera program.
While trying to get a very local issue with high speed driving in a residential area addressed, Warwickshire County Council has essentially confirmed their reactive approach to road safety – one that relies on incidents occuring before measures may even be considered to address a problem, incidents which could include property damage, injury, serious injury, or even death –
So David Simon of #TheWire fame got a speeding ticket in #NewYorkCity. This open letter in response to his complaining is everything American public discourse needs to become. A spirited defense of rules and common values that promote collective well-being, against that pervasive libertarianism sold to us by #neoliberal order.
Earlier this week I noticed a man filming me with his cellphone while he drove down Raleigh Rd in #ChapelHillNC. Finally got the chance to pull my bike-cam footage and get some screenshots of his vehicle. It's the gray Ford Explorer with the wakeradiology.com branding.
If you see his video of me (white woman, yellow helmet, black mid-tail cargo bike) posted anywhere on the internet, please report it. What he did was illegal & creepy AF.
@DrTCombs Any public access for that stop? Was there a ticket? was the driver's insurance charged? 40mph over the limit. Time for some traffic calming. Shouldn't be possible. #speeding#NC54
A wealthy driver in Finland's Åland Islands has been fined over €120,000 for speeding, where the price of speeding is determined by your income. It's his third major fine in a decade, and the first to crack six figures.
Anders Wiklöf was driving 82 kilometers per hour in a 50 kilometer per hour zone when police stopped and ticketed him on Saturday. Along with getting the fine, he had his driver's license suspended for 10 days.
Parking your #suv in a #bikelane like this can often be an indicator of how little someone respects the safety of their neighbors. That’s definitely the case with this motorist. A quick check of their plates on howsmydriving.nyc reveals this person has 34 violations since 2021, including 24 school zone #speeding violations. How is this person still able to #drive in #NYC ? And why is the ticket for speeding in a #school zone only $50?!
Someone from British Car Auctions is going to be in for a shock soon. They were caught speeding in the car they picked up from me on the 13th April. The offence was the 17th April.
I have replied to the Metropolitan Police explaining I was not the driver and did not own the car.
Newly signed legislation to bring speed cameras to LA, Long Beach and Glendale (abc7.com)
