This is a big deal for bikes in Bellingham! We have a new protected bike lane on Holly Street, the most important thoroughfare through downtown, and previously a big gap in our cycling network. Very excited to use this new route!
Today (Tue Mar 5) at 5pm, the city of #BellinghamWA will present concepts for a protected bike lane on Holly St, one of Bellingham's busiest downtown streets. There will also be a presentation from Catie Gould, senior transportation researcher at the Sightline Institute.
Event is at Structures Brewing on Holly St.

City of Port Phillip councillor: “You can’t ride your bike and bring home your groceries. You can’t take your kids to their dance classes, or bring parcels home, or use the bike if you’re elderly, disabled or infirm." East St Kilda mum: "please tell that councillor I do all my shopping, kinder pick ups and swimming lessons on my bike. And my friends would do it too if they weren’t so afraid of cars 🤦🏻♀️"

Why simply park your car in a #BikeLane when you can dump a couple truckloads of gravel in it, spill some into a storm drain, and block a fire hydrant, in a school zone, on #Halloween?
> At least 500 people came out to show their support for the recently innagurated bicycle lane on Via Augusta, last Saturday, October 21st 2023. The festive event was organized by...
BIKESPOT project is on once again! You can mark the map where you feel unsafe or safe riding your bike. Port Phillip Bicycle Users Group (and other advocacy groups) uses this data to inform our advocacy work, so it's really appreciated if you can participate. #cycling#melbourne#naarm#BikeLanes@fedibikes@ajsadauskashttps://www.bikespot.org/
(Edited to add: this is NATIONAL, not just for melbs! go to it, interstate friends!)
Ayala avenue itself is not #CarFree, and the only stretch of road that was closed to motorized vehicles is the segment of Paseo de Roxas, between Ayala and Makati Avenues. Glad to see they kept the #bikelane|s, thanks to dedicated folks who pushed against a plan to remove them.
Most of the bikelane surfaces look worse than before, with many unpatched or unevenly patched roadwork. 😑
How would you make this street better for biking & walking? Capt Bertie’s Way is a short 20 MPH street with residences and an entrance to a major town parking lot at the end. There’s a planned shared use path to connect a new housing development (highlighted parcel). Thoughts? #BikeTooter#UrbanPlanning#SafeStreets#sidewalk#bikelane#UrbanDesign#streets#CompleteStreets
There were plenty of actual car parking spaces nearby. Two lanes of street as well, no reason to squat on the #bikelane. This just seems like a fuck you from #SacPD
Green arrow is the #BikeLane. Red arrows are #car lanes, also for #motorcycles. Behind the yellow & black concrete barrier is the #bus lane. Blue arrow is where the light rail train is.
The bus lane used to be where the bike lane is. Good thing they moved it away... on most* parts of EDSA.
That #cyclist is not one of us #TSP. Just saying. 🤪
