Good morning/afternoon/evening and Happy #Caturday everyone.
Laurie & Meggie send lots of luv & purrs to you all, and hope that you have a purrfect day.
The sun is shining here again this morning, so they will be out playing, & 'helping' us to dig holes for plants.
Laurie had been nibbling on 'his' catnip plant when the need for a little nap came upon him. He doesn't fit in the flowerpot with the plant, so he just rested his head on the plant & pot while he dozed a little.
This catnip plant is Nepeta Cats Pajamas. Laurie loves it. I hope he doesn't totally demolish it. Meggie is (so far) less impressed. She likes her catnip dried and in toys for her to play with.
My good deed for the day - I rescued this beautiful little Holly Blue from a watery end this evening.
Think it’s a female but hard to tell with wet wings.
Found her upside down in a puddle on the Comber Road surrounded by cherry blossom (like a scene from “Melancholia”).
Picked her up and carried her to the nearest bush that was still in sunlight. It was hawthorn but there was ivy higher up.
Hope she survives the night 🤞🏻🦋

I am torn to and fro: I want to cry at how detached from nature many people have become.
But then I'm happy that someone has shown so much care. It's better to feed a hat bobble once too often - and the rescue centre is also happy about the publicity! 😁 But please beware of Tribbles! 😱
A major bridge in #Baltimore collapsed after being hit by a #freighter at about 1:30AM Tuesday, sending at least 8 people from a construction crew into the water as a large section of the #bridge crashed into the #PatapscoRiver. The container ship, traveling at a relatively rapid speed of about 8 knots, lost power in the moments before it struck the bridge, #Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) said at a news conference.
The “changing conditions” of the waters near the #KeyBridge, including temperature & loose debris from the collapse, made search efforts dangerous for first responders, ofcls said Tues evening as they suspended #rescue operations. Divers will return to the waters at 6AM Wednesday for a #recovery operation, #Maryland State Police Superintendent Col.Roland Butler Jr. said.

#AnimalRescue#Gaza#Palestine#Gazastrip - Dozens of abandoned/ free roaming #cats near the Nasser hospital.
Saeed / Sulala Animal Rescue and good samaritans evacuated some of the sick and injured cats to a veterinarian.
The rest of the #animals will be evacuated to in the next days.
Reminder; ... there is still an urgent need for cat & dog food, veterinarians in and just outside the warzone.
Saeed is doing impossible things to save as many animals as possible in the Gaza Strip despite the inhumane conditions. #Humanity
My friend Susan Abulhawa - Palestinian author and changemaker - recently returned from Gaza. She spent two weeks there; delivering aid for animals and people, running workshops to support Palestinian people under siege to tell their own stories; and checking in on friends and family.
She didn't want to leave - Israel cancelled Humanitarian visas. Until she can enter again, Susan has been publishing her accounts of this brief time in Gaza. These pieces are haunting and honest. The devastation and state violence is much worse than what we've seen online.
I'll post her articles in this thread as they're published. And the videos she's produced. And urge everyone to read/watch.
@KarenWyld@palestine She's an incredible woman. She even brought animal food with her each time for Sulala Rescue (the only official #animal#rescue in #Gaza). I will absolutely send a donation.
Newest member. Thankfully the shelter got her ( I swear he's a guy) fixed and up to date on shots. Now she just needs a bath and flee meds (does not have flees yet. But is stinky. )
Someone please tell the cat distribution system that we are closed. #rescue#cat#cats#pets
She is super sweet
Always cuddling and purring.loves to tell me about her day
