There has been a lot of teeth-gnashing and angst over the fall of #twitter, but from some of the latest news, I think we will have to start thinking about a much bigger problem: the fall of #Google.
Lo so, sono stati fatti enormi passi avanti da parte di feddit da quando c’è stata la faccenda sulle app di terze parti e le chiamate API, la comunità si è allargata tantissimo ma io ancora non riesco a godermi questo posto quanto prima mi godevo reddit su infinity.
L’impazienza è una caratteristica umana e sia io sia @skariko ci siamo posti il problema della possibile quiete dopo la tempesta della #redditmigration… 😁
Forti dell’esperienza di mastodon che, dopo una crescita spropositata è sembrato quasi fermarsi anche se questo non era vero, abbiamo cercato di tirare un po’ il freno a mano soprattutto nella creazione di nuove comunità. Sappiamo che le comunità anche quando sono ben gestite possono avere un calo del coinvolgimento che può durare anche diversi giorni e che se non si recupera, può perdurare nel tempo. Per questo motivo è più facile prendere accorgimenti validi quando il perimetro da controllare è più ristretto… 😅
Resta il fatto che la comunità italiana di reddit era già molto più piccola in proporzione a quella inglese, ma anche a quella tedesca: Basta vedere quanto sia incrementato lo sviluppo di feddit.de che, pur essendo nato molto tempo prima rispetto a feddit.it aveva un volume di commenti che ormai noi dell’istanza italiana avevamo praticamente raggiunto.
Perciò è tutto un po’ da costruire, a cominciare dalla community italofona. A questo proposito ho potuto notare che i canali reddit italiani hanno ricominciato a vivere, come se non esistessero più i problemi che hanno portato alla migrazione delle scorse settimane… 🤷🏽♂️
Non so se sia perché siamo ancora troppo pochi, o perché non c’è effettivamente interesse, ma non mi sembra che ci sia abbastanza partecipazione nei thread di Morning per continuare a postare ogni giorno l’episodio....
Sicuramente la fase della #redditmigration ha raggiunto il picco. Ora è giunto il momento del consolidamento, anche approfittando dei volumi più contenuti che si avranno durante l’estate. Per quanto riguarda il podcast Morning Si tratta sicuramente di un argomento molto specifico e soprattutto riguarda un pubblico che forse è ancora molto legato ai social tradizionali.
L’aspetto della promozione invece è un po’ più ampio: Come già detto per due mesi abbiamo dovuto gestire un aumento di utenti e di iscrizioni che, fatte le dovute proporzioni, non si era visto neanche Durante la fase di esplosione di mastodon. Ora è sicuramente giunto il momento di ragionare su strategie per consolidare il progetto, Ma non penso tanto al maggiore diffusione mainstream quanto alla costruzione di una vera e propria comunità di utenti che possa esistere, incontrarsi e, per così dire, vivere anche al di fuori della piattaforma Lemmy. Il nostro ecosistema Infatti è complementare a quello di mastodon ma lo è anche rispetto ad altre comunità digitali. Il futuro è aperto e sarà interessante cercare di costruirlo volta per volta

Lain is right, also fedi is a bubble, albeit a decently big one. like lol, "twitter is dying" it has over 100x as many ACTIVE users than fedi has SIGN-UPS. "the site broke for a while because elon is stupid" no one cares lol, fedi servers implode every week from incompetent administrators and people just come back when the admin reinstalls on a new subdomain
@deutrino@hj@lanodan@Moon I follow several lemmy communities from #Friendica, and threading works fine, looks no different than this long hell thread save the first post always has a TITLE and is clearly a "re-toot" of the OP.
#Maston's handling where each post/comment looks like a single re-toot makes it nearly impossible to follow, especially with the added traffic with the #RedditMigration. I had to stop following @memes from my masto account because reasons.
I wouldn’t refer to myself as a “Reddit Refugee,” but I did come over to the Fediverse during the Great #RedditMigration. I didn’t use any of the third party apps and wasn’t really affected by it (though I didn’t agree with it either and think it’s total BS). But I was looking for a change. So I guess that makes me a bandwagon migrant? I don’t know.
Doesn’t really matter though. I’m here and I don’t give two shits about Reddit anymore.
Did you leave #Reddit during the #redditMigration? Or are you exploring your options, since Reddit just seems to suck now?

We have made the decision that effective today we will be getting rid of the Kbin instance for #AllThingsTech
We have made this decision for several reasons, 1) Cost is a bit too much at this time, 2) Lack of interest by users 3) Kbin is still in early development and has quite a few issues.
Maybe this will be something we can setup again in the future for everyone.
For people like me who used #Reddit through an app (Apollo in my case) and are looking to replace it with a #Fediverse alternative, things are looking up. Lemmy and Kbin are seeing explosive growth. Although you can follow these from Mastodon, you’ll need to create an account on a Lemmy/Kbin server to get the proper Reddit experience.
I’ve found an app for Lemmy called “Memmy for Lemmy” which is pretty nice. It all works pretty smoothly, recommended.

@blissfulmun I have many accounts on social media, but only #reddit was my real social media. From there I heard about SMO (Ukraine-Russia war) first and many many little stories about hobbies, life tips and so on. All from my mobile phone via Relay. Last month we learned that they want to extort 3rd party apps so my Relay will go under. You don't want to see Reddit official app with "posts" that are ads and you can advertise your post with $. #redditblackout > #redditmigration and here I am.
