I’m always amazed how fast Wheat Grass grows.
I made a little counter top planter with vintage Fiestaware mugs for my partner to use in his smoothies.
We thought it might be fun to do a time lapse to see how fast it grows in a day. It was not. 😂
Turns out it was like… watching grass grow 🌾
I trimmed it up to see the growth in 9 hours anyway.

Spring semester is almost over! Only a few classes run on campus over summer. Most students are catching up on sleep, hanging out with friends, enjoying the outdoors, and -- most of all -- selling more of their labor-power.
Point is: there's not much to say till August.
That said, we are launching a series of posts that will run all summer:
Elephant Garlic Scape!
I didn’t think they were coming, for months the few Elephant Garlic bulbs I have going, haven’t grown an inch and even started to lose color (maybe thrips?) but this week they’ve really started to take off!
And now… scapes! Neat.
I think it’s the soil blend that I made and added to all the beds, which is exciting to know worked.
Several plants that weren’t doing much have had some serious growth spurts since being top dressed.

Such a gorgeous veg! All of the brassicas were supposed to come out last week to make room for the tomatoes but this guy decided he wanted to do his thing after all. Way too handsome to pull, so even though brassicas can inhibit root growth in tomatoes I’m going to wait and see what happens.
I just potted a felt bush (kalanchoe beharensis) that has been in my family for over 50 years. It had grown 5’ tall from a small pot, originally mailed to us as a cutting by grandma (wrapped in wet paper towel & tin foil). So last year I cut the top off, rooted that, & today it starts a proper new life. Houseplant reincarnation! What a metaphor for something, haven’t figured out what yet. #plants#houseplants#kalanchoe I also successful rooted a leaf from it separately. Amazing!
