North America is wierd when it comes to transportation. It’s important to remember when reading things about #urbanism and #mobility that American baselines about how things work are not the same as yours.
"The priority should not be to replace every car with its electric equivalent but rather to rethink #mobility in general.
"Placing so much focus on the automobile and even now the electric automobile is not the way that we solve our mobility problems, but rather it's time to invest in #transit, in #cycling, in walkable cities, to get people out of #cars altogether," they said."
♿ The European #Disability Card: Issued by national authorities, it will complement existing certificates and ensure that disabled people get the treatment they are entitled to.
🚗 The Enhanced European Parking Card: Replacing national parking cards, it will guarantee parking rights in all #EU countries, enabling independent #mobility.
Does anyone in the #ChronicIllness#LongCovid and/or #spoonie community on Mastodon use an electric bicycle as a mobility aid to get out and about?
I would love to be able to go outside more, but the price of electric bikes is fairly prohibitive. It would need to be folding so that I can be rescued if necessary 🙃 Have you found the outlay worth it?
Any helpful comments from e-bikers gratefully received
Hello Mastodon! #introduction 👋 I am Lucas (call me Luuk) from The Netherlands 🇳🇱 Starting my #PhD research at Uni Salzburg, Department of Geoinformatics, in Austria 🇦🇹 It's about human-centric #datascience for #sustainable#mobility planning. How does the way we design streets influence our perceptions of accessibility, and how can we measure this? 🌆 Happy to share thoughts and learn a lot. I also develop #FOSS#software in #rstats and #python 💻 And I like to ride #bikes#cycling 🚲
When I tell people that >20% of the population everywhere cannot drive, they always quibble about including children in that calculation. I think it says a lot about our car brained society that it's normal to think minors shouldn't have independent mobility.
The #miniholland project in #London is shown to produce a tenfold return on investment! For £100m invested, it provided an health economic benefit of £1,056m!
"Fieldnotes on FlyingLess Conferencing:" Our reflection on European #STS conferencing via #train is published in the EASST review. This is an intervention to think about less energy-intensive #mobility forms for conferences. #transition#flyingless
Just learned a great deal about the #liveability of #Montreal from this great video looking at all the #transportation and #mobility enhancements they've made, and how it is part of the culture.
Throwing this out into the ether on the off-chance:
I have a Green Power Electric Boot Scooter BH220. I need to remove the battery. Green Power won't tell me how as they want to charge for an engineer to come out.
It has a handle and I'm meant to be able to take it inside to charge it. I was shown how to remove it when I first got it, but I can't remember. I can lift w/handle, but it feels stuck at the front end. How do I release it? #Mobility#disabled#MobilityScooter#Repair
New year, new start: I'm rebooting the #QGIS Processing Trajectools plugin development. Trajectools v2 builds on #MovingPandas and exposes its trajectory analysis algorithms in the #QGISProcessing Toolbox. More:
On an average day, 62,000 people arrive by bicycle at Utrecht Central Station to take the train there!
(That's 43% of the total number of train passengers departing there) #train#railway#publictransport#bicycle#mobility#urbanism
Hi #wheelchair users, do you have any websites or recommendations for someone getting their first chair? She has been avoiding it for a long time, but can’t put it off much longer. She wants something sporty, light, zippy looking. #disability#ability#mobility
