This week's comic on the blind zones of America's gargantuan trucks and SUVs.

@jensorensen I wonder what they're compensating for.

dascandy42,

@jensorensen I'm 6'5" and I found a car in the US last year where I couldn't see onto the hood.

@jensorensen we have large trucks in Europe as well, but they’re designed so the driver can see the road in front https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f1/17/95/f11795deb2d3730c986416a253a797e1.jpg

@peterbrown Those are so much better, not to mention less menacing-looking! I was in the Netherlands a few months ago, and the absence of truck grilles as tall as I am was refreshing.

dascandy42,

@jensorensen @peterbrown I think the average car height in NL is about the average hood height in the US.

> The hood height of some of the most popular trucks on the roads today like Ford’s F-250, the Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500 come in at 55 inches.

> a typical car in the UK measures around 4399mm long, 1821mm wide, and 1534mm tall

Which is about 60.4 inches. So there's still 5.4 inches between the average hood of an American truck and the top of the roof of an average European car.
