So I 3D modelled two icons (well, illustrations rather) for the communities that I created on kbin: Industrial Design and Jewelry Design. These icons are meant to reimagine kbin’s logo in a way that's relevant to each community....
Powerful and Continuing #Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of #patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. #Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
Disdain for the Recognition of #HumanRights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, and long incarcerations of prisoners.
Supremacy of the #Military
Even when there are widespread #domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
Rampant #Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional #gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to #abortion is high, as is #homophobia and anti-#gay legislation.
Controlled #MassMedia
Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation or by sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Government #censorship and #secrecy especially in war time, are very common.
Obsession with #NationalSecurity
Fear of hostile foreign powers is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
#Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.
Protection of #Corporate Power
The #industrial and business #aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
Suppression of #Labor Power
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor #unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
Disdain for #Intellectuals and the #Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to #HigherEducation and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other #academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
Obsession with #Crime and #Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the #police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego #CivilLiberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
Rampant #Cronyism and #Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
#Fraudulent#Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by #SmearCampaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control #voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

The FSA #Faircamp site is online! There's a couple tweaks to be made, for example, I seem to have gotten at least one release date wrong (copy/paste strikes again), but nothing I'm worried about fixing right away.
Support is always appreciated, but feel free to just listen or take advantage of the "soft" paywall too.
A #solarpower spinout from Oxford University has concluded that due to a lack of incentives, the UK is the 'least attractive' of the countries it is considering for a plant to manufacture its highly efficient perovskite-silicon cells for #solar panels. The plant is likely to be located in either the US or Germany.
Its an old story of UK advances in #technology being capitalised on elsewhere, now compounded by a #Tory Govt. with no #industrial strategy & a weak commitment to #greenenergy!
A shot from this morning, now up in the gallery as a monochrome print after some tweaks, titled 'Mondays' (Maple Leaf on Concrete, Monochrome) :)

If you like your #industrial pretty and fragile in the broken, distorted way that only it can be -- think NIN in its quieter moments - "Burst Forth from Decay" by @jankhambrams is going to treat you right. A haunting, lofi piano line picks its way thru a subdued, brooding electro industrial beat. All that, plus some intriguing clicks-and-cuts rhythmic things going on and some excellent sound design touches along the way? Nice.
I’ll readily acknowledge I’m something of a dilettante when it comes to metal -- despite a long history with it and a general affection, I never really dove into its depths. You’ll have to forgive me for not knowing exactly how to categorize “LD 99” by Jessica B. Kelly (aka @jessica ) and the Void Conspiracy. What I can tell you is that guitars chug along like classic thrash ...(continued in next post)
Experience the two sides of @debonairetoast Lithopedion in the tracks “Reseph” and “Waiting for Destiny.” The first is all dark foreboding that hatches into full blown menace in the song’s closing minute, built out of electro-industrial synths and minimal beats, while “Destiny” is the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel -- not quite upbeat but hopeful, like a fog-piercing ray of sunshine built of synth arpeggios and warm pads.
Yesterday I was telling a good friend that it's only February and, unless some surprise discovery happens over the year, I am pretty sure that with the excuse of the concert in June, she will be my most listened artist in 2024. Will I be right? We'll see in December. For today, I am gonna just open this #MusicWomenWednesday (by @loewe) with the opening cut of her last outstanding album:
Will it hurt us for proven donating audience and some reach. Yes.
Right call for us to step back from #bandcamp that has sold twice, union busted and in the hands of DRM mad lawyers who want to partner with TikTok. Also Yes.
Will we project our choice on artists who are platform exhausted, overwhelmed, or desperate. NO!
Do your best to support indy artists where they can manage to be incl bandcamp.

The harder side of #industrial didn't so much die off as it mutated into a bunch of other stuff -- digital hardcore, the harder side of techno, industrial metal, etc. And now, every once in a while, all those disparate evolutionary paths reconverge into a snarling musical beast like @controlfreak's Quadrants. Ultra distorted beats, shouted lyrics, blasts of raw noise, raw synth squelches. RIYL early Skinny Puppy, Belgians, power tools, etc.

OC I designed and rendered a couple of icons for the magazines I started, and I’d like to share some behind the scenes images with y'all. I’m also open to doing a few more of these in future.
