TONY IOMMI Names BLACK SABBATH Riffs He Immediately Knew Were Special
During an appearance on the latest episode of Loudwire Nights, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi was asked to name a riff that, when he wrote it, he just knew it was special. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, without sounding big-headed, [there were] a few. [Laughs] When we'...
I don't often have to go back in a new song I'm just hearing for the first time to listen to a riff or sequence of riffs again, but I just had to do it on the LAST track of this new Nekrodawn record - it is ridiiiculous. Thx to @HailsandAles for having it on his Friday list of new releases, I would've missed it. 🔥

ULI JON ROTH 'Can't Stand The Lyrics' In SCORPIONS' 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' But Praises The Song's 'Great Classic Rock Riff'
Coffin Torture are fantastic. I just listened to both of their albums again. It's this doomy, psychedelic riffy mix and this sound is NOT something that just any band can pull off well. I think someone here recommended them? I totally forget. Whoever you were, thank you, and if you see this, let me know!
Here's Coffin Torture's 2022 album 'Blennoid'. It is SUCH a banger. Hope we get a new one soon. 🔥
So, THIS shreds. Band is called '92. They're from Long Beach. Their self-titled EP comes out February 23. It's hardcore, kinda - their one guitarist is wearing a Helmet shirt in their photo on Bandcamp. I hear the Helmet, and there's some RATM and other great stuff in there. The RIFFAGE. Linking both to this video and their Bandcamp below it.

EXODUS's GARY HOLT: 'I Just Love Riffs'
"I just love riffs. I mean, I love, love riffs. I love writing them. I write them in my sleep...
It's #RegionalRiffs time again. An amazing band from here in Arizona (that I really miss- they broke up after their 2017 album) was TWINGIANT. Gnarly, heavy shit. Bass player Jared's rough growl-scream vocals, walls of guitars, doomy, some Motorhead in there too. I saw em twice and we hung out both times too (once with my now wife before we were married!)
Twingiant left us with FOUR amazing albums, starting with Mass Driver in 2012, all linked below. I still have my ratty Twingiant shirt from this era and you're damn right I still wear it.
Current obsession: this 3 piece band from Arkansas called Ten High I discovered yesterday on Bandcamp. No idea if they're still together, as they only have a Facebook aside from their stuff on Bandcamp, and they haven't put out an album since 2018.
But ALL FOUR of their albums on Bandcamp (https://tenhigh.bandcamp.com) are fuzzy, bluesy garage psych-punk MASTERPIECES, and I can't even choose a favorite. I was able to listen to all four yesterday all the way through chronologically (which is saying a lot, I'm picky, and it's rare for bands to write amazing full albums)-- and I'm doing the same today.
I'm just blown away. It's rare to find bands that are so cool and solid. Ten High put out some really rough, weird stuff with some rad, gnarly, often unintelligible lyrics along with catchy, fuzzy riffs. There's so much to dig about them, I hope they're still around.
