I've been trying to #read more #scifi lately. I'm a slow reader so it's slow going, but I've been having fun and exploring both old and new, classics and award winners, authors I know and others I don't. As you might guess, it's a mixed bag, but mostly positive as I've been sticking mainly with highly recommended works. Given this is #October, I've decided to finally read #Frankenstein. That's right, I've never read it all the way through. Maybe this time I'll finish it.
I’m currently reading #Frankenstein, Or The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. I’m having a bit of a rough time, because, to be as polite as I can, her style is a reflection of her era.
I’m doing this because I want to catch up on all the reading that I was supposed to do in high school. (Apologies to Mr. D, Mr. F, Mr. S, and Ms. G.)
One of the nice things is that nearly all of the material is freely available on Project Gutenberg, and that means I can read them on my #Kindle.
Love checking in on the Google Keyboard #gboard#emoji combinations to see what #cursed and unhinged #Frankenstein creations they've enabled. I've tried giving them names... what would you call yours?

Happy Frankenstein Friday! I wanted to draw your attention to the 1957 "The Curse Of Frankenstein" movie (based on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein novel).
Peter Cushing plays Baron Victor Frankenstein and Christopher Lee, who played opposite each other in many oldschool horror/Hammer films, plays Frankenstein's monster.
Es una mezcla entre #Frankenstein y un intento de transplante de cerebro.

Today in Labor History March 29, 1797: William Godwin married Mary Wollstonecraft. Godwin was an English journalist, philosopher and novelist. And one of the first modern proponents of anarchism. His most famous books are “An Enquiry Concerning Political Justice” and “Things as They Are; or, The Adventures of Caleb Williams,” a mystery novel that attacks aristocratic privilege. Wollstonecraft was a British writer, philosopher, and advocate of women's rights, and is regarded by many as one of the founding feminist philosophers. Her most famous book was “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” (1792). She died 11 days after giving birth to her second daughter, Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein.

Looking forward to MIT Press’ anotated edition. Theme of my study series Christian Sci-Fi Night with Professor K is “Playing God leads to trouble.” Note article’s point that Victor Frankenstein’s crime was hating and abandoning his creation, antithetical to God.
