As environmental, social and humanitarian crises escalate, the world can no longer afford two things: first, the costs of economic inequality; and second, the rich.
Though the Civil Rights Act of 1964 officially ended racial discrimination in public places, relics of the Jim Crow era still haunt the South.
An example: In Ellisville, Mississippi, 2 water fountains remain standing in front of the Jones County Courthouse.
Even though the fountains don’t work, and the signs reading “white” and “colored have been covered, the subtle but discriminatory whisper of segregation remains.
As #MothersDay approaches in the UK, it would be great if pubs/cafes/restaurants/etc offered their deals to all women and not just mums. For many, the exclusion just makes a crappy day that bit harder. Remember, it isn’t always by choice.
"Severely disabled women are left out of conversations on Women’s Rights, and trans women are also excluded from these conversations. Be sure that we uplift these populations today."- Andrew Gurza
My wife is amazing. Not many people will know this because she isn't famous. She was a nurse, specialising in mental health. Then the terrible, debilitating condition of fibromyalgia caused her to cut hours and eventually stop working. The court #Arrest#Warrant states he responsible for #genocide of Ukrainian children and unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.
Hundreds were arrested around the funeral. The FSB shut down the internet, and interrupted the funeral service --dragging the coffin away, before taking it to the grave site. This is what republicans worship.
Until the NCAA recognized women’s basketball as a legitimate sport, Iowa high school girl’s basketball still played half court 3 on 3 basketball. In 1982, it switched to full court 5 on 5 so high school graduates could compete at the college level. 40 years later, Caitlin Clark is shining a light on that history.

🗣️Yet, I admit: There are moments when I feel vulnerable, even hopeless. The weight of this battle can be overwhelming. But my mentor's words echo in my mind: "You are not helpless." And so, I press forward, fueled by the belief that change is possible.
In the world of #business, the struggle for #equality & #FairTreatment is ongoing. #MinorityOwned businesses, like Broadus Foods, founded by rappers Snoop Dogg & Master P & Sean Combs’ DeLeon tequila, have been voicing their experiences of #inequity & #racism within the food, alcohol & even psychedelic industries. Another company that has encountered similar issues is Bliss Mushrooms, a minority-owned psychedelic company based in Oakland, California.
