McDonald’s reported $1.9B in Q1 profits yet is 2nd only to Walmart on employees who receive welfare.
This class warfare against working people is another reminder that the USA isn't $34T in debt because the poor rely too much on welfare & pay too little tax—but because billionaires pay too little tax & rely too much on corporate welfare. #TaxBillionaires
@QasimRashid And to be clear, McDonald's & Walmart are viciously anti-union and crushingly exploitative because they know that WORKERS GENERATE ALL THE WEALTH. Managers do some work, and owners are useless. The pandemic made that extremely clear, although it was always true.
It's vital to the owners' continued power and status to keep the people who actually make all the money from being able to organize against them and create something equitable and just.
The #IGDA released the results of its yearly #GamesIndustrySurvey and it contains that interesting chart down below...
Let it be an encouragement to everyone who wants to #unionize their workplace: You are not alone! The majority of your colleagues is ready to support you!
Today, the new minimum wage of $17.28 in my city of Bellingham, WA goes into effect.
Compared to some other cities in the US, this may sound high. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 (since 2009).
Unfortunately, experts have calculated Bellingham's "living wage" closer to $23.52 for an individual and $29.97 for a family of four with two working parents.
According to Redfin, "In March 2024, Bellingham home prices were up 12.2% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $685K."
Average rent for an apartment is $1,863, and average rent for a house is $2,891.
Whatcom County, where Bellingham is located, recorded a 27% jump in unhoused people in 2023 (the most recent data), the highest increase since the point in time survey began in 2008.
"People recognize for the first time in a long time, on a mass scale, there's gotta be some changes and some of the power and stuff that's gone to the corporate world needs to come back to us little guys."
#REI continues in their #UnionBusting efforts, working swiftly to continue alienating customers and firing low-level managers for essentially no reason. They are doing a great job demonstrating why being a #CoOp doesn't guarantee good #labor policy. I hope they will wake up to the fact that they need to treat their employees better and stop interfering with their attempts to #unionize, and penalizing managers put into a difficult position.
Jeg støtter et forslag for at min fagforening (#ForskerForbundet) tar #klima på alvor i arbeidsprorammet sitt, og vedtar en resolusjon mot videre oljeleting i #Norge.
«The workers in question were salaried, nonunion employees in technology and engineering in the U.S.
One mechanical engineer let go on Friday..., “It was a mass firing of everybody that was on the call.” He suspected the real reason behind the layoffs involved a push to move jobs to “low-cost countries,” noting that Stellantis is outsourcing many jobs to India, Mexico, and Brazil.»
An injury to one is an injury to all. When one person faces harm or injustice, it threatens the well-being and freedom of all. We mustn't fight and compete with each other; that is how we stay subjugated. Cooperation and solidarity are the only way we will all be free, the only way we can live our lives to the fullest and bring as much pleasure to ourselves and our neighbors on this planet.
Workers unite! Form unions to gain collective strength against bosses. Recognize that harm to one worker reflects the systemic exploitation affecting all workers. We have a world to win!
Diese "Solidarität" mit dem Vorstand und den Investoren der Deutschen Bahn in der Bevölkerung, ist das eine Folge von LongCovid, Reste der Bleibenzinvergiftung, oder noch was anderes?
