A #Jewish woman who called a Lyft saw the October 7 license plate.
She asked the company for a refund which was initially denied.
The DMV said they are looking into the plate.
My train just ran over something pretty intense. Now we’re stopped a short distance away from a railway station. The power went out. I smell burnt brakes. Let’s hope whatever we ran over wasn’t alive before we hit it…
If you’re driving #Lyft or #Uber in NJ, now is a good time to head for railway stations on the NECL between Newark Penn Station and Princeton. East-bound railway traffic is on full stop due to electrical wire problems.
You cannot manage your account, including cancel your membership, or delete your account without the app. The website will log you in, but then tell you that you must use the app.
I decided to cancel my membership and delete my account, because the app also will not work without Google Play Services either. The app will open, show you a notice that you need it, then close.
But putting that aside, you should at least have access to your account without your phone by visiting their website. I had to use someone else's phone just to log in, cancel, and then delete my account.
#Wendys is so upset that people are criticizing their plan to introduce "#surgePricing" like #Uber and #Lyft. They insist that their plan to dynamically readjust pricing is totally not surge pricing! Tho they haven't been able to articulate how, exactly, their plan is different. You just have to take their word for it! It's different, dammit.
like, the drivers you give a 5 star rating to, end up on a favorite list, then you can run through your favorites to see who's available. #Lyft, #Uber.
I hope courts reverse themselves and rule these companies are taxi companies and their drivers are employees, because these are taxi companies and their drivers are employees.
You might have heard Gig workers are taking time out of their day today to protest working conditions from companies like #Uber#Lyft#DoorDash#SkipTheDishes and others.
Well, I just got this email from Door Dash at exactly 11AM PST when many people are doing this 'strike’.
The link goes to a form letter to the BC Government. But it's locked, you can't personalize it. I was going to remove all their text and say “I support regulating Gig work and improving working conditions”.
If you support workers rights, if you use these services, or if you're a gig worker yourself. Please contact your government in your area and urge them to follow the lead of others regulating gig work.
A statement read on the CBC this morning from Door Dash said they're not concerned.
Obviously.... they are.
Why? Because we're taking action together for fair wages and protection.
If you would like to send an actual letter to the BC Minister of Labour supporting Gig Workers in their fight for fair working conditions, send an email to LBR.Minister@gov.bc.ca
If you'd like a "form letter" (that you can modify!) I'll put what I wrote to Minister Bains in the next reply.
Here's the letter I sent to Minister of Labour Harry Bains:
Dear Minister Bains,
I am a “Dasher”.
Today I am withdrawing my services from Door Dash in solidarity with other gig workers who are protesting the working conditions and unfair pay that the “gig economy” has been allowed to get away with.
I support BC’s efforts to regulate these companies and bring them in line with the expectations of any workplace.
For your information, I have included a message I received from Door Dash at exactly 11AM today, coinciding with the protests/withdrawal of service in this timezone, encouraging me to contact the BC Government. They did not allow me to personalize my message to you on their form. They wanted me to send their canned rhetoric that tries to make it sound like gig workers are on their side. They’re wrong.
Gig workers want fairness and respect and we are working, and withdrawing our service, in solidarity with each other.
Thank you for your efforts in supporting us.
NYC Cab Drivers Just Sued #Uber and #Lyft for Hundreds of Millions in Unpaid Wages
Uber and Lyft have made profits by exploiting their ambiguous legal status to avoid paying workings billions in wages, but taxi unions recently sued the corporations for millions.
New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA) has clawed back $328 million in stolen wages from Uber and Lyft for over eighty thousand drivers throughout the city.

My latest video for @show is about Trickle-Down EV economics.
Can we please stop pretending that #Uber and #lyft and other #RideSharing platforms are AFFORDABLE?
They're not. They're equitable. They're not universally available. You can't BUY an Uber with cash. You can't get an UberPass.
You can't jump on an Uber for the same price at 12 am as you can at 6pm.
Ride Share is not equitable. It's another way for wealthier citizens to get around, and in its most dire form, a tax on our more vunlerable citizens who don't have a car, whose bus just failed to turn up, and who need to get to work or they'll be fired.
