👾 Hey Retro Gamers, Happy Weekend! Today I pulled down a couple different NES games from my shelf. MicroMachines and Pac-Man. Both decent games, however it is almost impossible to get this MicroMachines cartage to play. I cleaned it with alcohol, no luck. Any other ideas?

👾 Hey retro gamers, I'm a day late but here is my NES Friday the 13th game along with another great game, Karnov. These have always been a couple of favorites of mine for the NES.
One thing I wish more people understood about natural history and taxonomy: this knowledge of what species are, how they are recognized, and where they are found, is expensive.
The knowledge comes from millions of collected specimens going back centuries, which are housed in buildings that have utilities and maintenance costs, and require salaried people to look after them and to gather and pass the data into public databases, which also require funding.
Appeal: does anyone have any juicy photos of museum/collection textiles that I may use in a training session? (With credit, obviously.)
I'm after:
👔 packed/stored textiles (stored well or poorly, your choice!)
👚 examples of different types of historic and modern textiles
👗 examples of damage to textiles (stains, tears, pest nibbles, anything!)
🧶 identified fibres under a microscope
By the way, nearly all the specimen images we've been creating in the UT collection have been placed in the public domain, and are free to take and use for anything:
👾 Here are a few DOS Retro Games on 1 disk from my collection. These actually belonged to my dad so I don't have any memory of playing them. The shareware games that I used to play are long gone. Did anyone ever play these before? Were they any good? What is the best one to play from this pack?

During the freeze this week, a pipe burst in the ethanol storage facility used by the UT fish, reptile, and insect collections. The specimens are fine, as it's just metal shelving and sealed jars, but the building itself is damaged in a way that might shut down regular research activities for a few weeks to months.
Do you have a preferred #knowledgebase (if that's the right term) type app on Windows 10? I'm currently toying with #ObsidianMD but I'm wondering if there's something better.
My planned use case is keeping track of a few #collections (digital and physical) along with their purchase information etc.
Local storage in something readily exchanged, like #Markdown, #JSON or #YAML is a must, preferably without needing a separate manual import/export step.
The first two photos are the 7 new(plus one freebie) Android minis that I have added to my collection this week thanks to the huge sale that @deadzebra put on.
The last photo is a photo of my entire collection that I've been collecting for years now.
I'm teaching a new #class "Solidarity Memory Work"
We'll learn about #solidarity#movements in allied professions (academic history, journalism, etc.) then discuss (1) how to actively #document and #preserve current movements and organizations, and (2) activate that #records already in #collections to motivate and guide contemporary organizers
Info on historical collectors & other collection agents affiliated with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin was transferred from local wikis to @wikidata to help #accessibility & #reusability of #data, for example, as a resource for transdisciplinary #provenance#research.

"Montrer les collections médiévales" -> on attend vos réflexions sur la façon d'exposer les œuvres du Moyen Âge, sur les discours induits par les expositions, les collections des œuvres de la période, etc.
If you're encountering the Subscribed 404 error, this is a good time to revisit Collections
