Hi, I'm looking to fill up my RSS feed reader a bit recently!
Anyone got recommendations for blogs, news source etc? Nothing too general/spammy.
General news, EU/German politics, cybersec (vulnerability reports), self hosting and programming (rust, nix...) and digital rights stuff. Also LGBT stuff. And computer graphics stuff can't hurt either! :)
No fedi accounts, for that I have fedi, though maybe youtube channels (i think you can subscribe to those via rss?)
This evening I was talking with @rm4 about #Tron Legacy, a #film which we highly suggest watching if you haven't already!
So, I thought about re-watching it but suddenly youtube showed me this #documentary about it, so I pressed play and enjoyed a nice and inspiring mid hour of #BehindTheScenes !
Take a watch if you know the film or if you are interested in the #MakingOf !
Just spent a couple hours in blender working on a nuclear reactor diagram for a school project. Took a while but I'm very happy with the results.
I haven't added any labels yet, I'll do that tomorrow. Which do you think would be better for a diagram, the cycles or eevee render? eevee certainly looks more sensible but I think it's a little too...flat
With Blender 4.0 comes some welcome changes to the Principled BSDF, and https://physicallybased.info is now updated to reflect those changes when you choose Blender from the Engine dropdown.
IOR is now controlling both reflection and refraction, and Specular Tint is working as expected for metals. You can also find values for Subsurface Radius for select materials.
great example of #CategoryTheory being applied in procedural #CG via "double pushout production rules". I'm convinced that CT can be applied to most domains, it's just a matter of teaching people in the domains category theory rather than fetishizing it as a magical skeleton key to the universe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG3LbcOGHqw
In this article I've talked about my approach to making assets in general, about Plasticity, as a brand new event in ever changing history of CG world, about my approach to texturing and how it important to understand what and why is done.
And some free stuff in it as well!
I guess there are a few people that haven't heard of this tool so, if you are using HDR images and want to view them in panoramic or full spherical, it is a great tool.
Check the simple help because it has a few little features like exposure and scale:
From the archive a Blender model from 10 years ago:
This was one of my early uses of Allegorithmics Substance Painter, they used the image in one of their presentations so I was famous for a few minutes 😂 #mbt3d#3d#b3d#blender3d#art#3dart#cg#MarmosetToollbag
