Made myself a case for my old Kindle; bought black craft foam and contact cement from Michael's for a couple dollars, cut it to fit a swag giveaway knock-off Moleskine notebook I got while temping at a trade show years ago. A strip of black grosgrain hides the exposed binding where I tore out the notebook pages. This is version 2.0, after my wife suggested the single tab at the top.
I had a nice-looking, vintage book case, but it wore out. Hence the replacement.

Hmm, I've used #Electrodragon for many years. A smaller Asia/Pacific #electronics parts shop w a boutique feel. Small circuits, parts, modules, some used stuff, but fun all around.
They've been very good, and tho' a bit low on documentation I can usually get everything I acquire there working, tho' sometimes with a bit of effort.
A recent order isn't moving at all. Makes me worry they might be at the end of their run? Will try a query to see. Fingers crossed.

I am such a nerd. Since I got my converted to electric '76 KZ400 going again I'm using it for all of my around town trips. Here I am loaded for work this morning with art gallery hanging system track and my tool bag.
My latest batch of handmade paper is done. There's one sheet on the left that has not been pressed, and a stack on the right that has been pressed and has a very smooth surface. (Ready for more relief prints!)
Consider you would do promotion for #amateurradio in the #maker / #fablab / #hacker community, or towards youth in a #coderdojo , does it make sense to try to get the local radioclub involved?
Or do you just start a local radio-amateur group inside a #hackerspace or the coderdojo?
I never got my 3D printer set up to do really pretty, flawless prints - but I do seem to have reached a point where it will run & print just fine when I hit it up, even if it's been sitting dormant for weeks 🤞😁

Expecting some circuit boards today maybe. Exciting - my first use of #KiCad right through to actually producing PCBs, though I've worked up a few schematics in the past, and one other PCB layout.
Haven't bought any new boards for a project in a couple of years either, so it's nice for that reason too.
This design is a pretty simple amalgam of a bunch of peripheral elements attached to a new-to-me module that uses an ATMega4808 processor.
That module is much like the Arduino Nano Every (4809) but much cheaper ($5 vs $21) though poorly documented and more convoluted to use.
Also I'm liking the #KiCad 3D viewer too, but I have to discover how to add solid-models for the 3D view renderings. (Fingers crossed that it's just an .stl file reference).
Yay - my circuit boards arrived yesterday evening.
Have been playing with getting a good fit into my unusually-shaped enclosure and think I've managed it. A hot soldering iron is very useful for sculpting changes in the 3Dprinted shell.
Accidental fumes from PLA are thankfully not too nasty – a bit sweet smelling.
I'm at a crossroads with 4.0 and future development. For a long while, I've been considering a complete re-write. The only way I think I would consider that is if other devs signed on. Otherwise, there are various paths forward with refactoring. And/or splitting out CAM from the rest of the package to provide more freedom of UI expression.

there are so many things I would do differently looking back. JS has evolved, browsers have evolved, tool chains have evolved. I would like the final product to be able to be served statically without a server and retaining the options for cloud connected features (as long as they're not necessary for normal functions). I would focus on making a CLI / library for everything first instead of building the UI in lock step. nodejs was not a thing when this project started. I'd like to offload more code into WASM from the start, etc.
What's the intersection of the #javascript#cad and #maker communities here? Anyone interested in both high-performance JavaScript and CAD/CAM want to join in?
So yeah, I guess it's finished! I've put the third wheel into the bike accessories drawer, I've put the cargo cover I sewed onto the higher-accessibility accessories shelf (first order retrieval is my friend), and ...
yeah! I guess we're done!
(Well... other than maybe sewing a reflector onto the cargo cover. It's pretty damn visible with that safety orange cover, but... just to be sure. xD )
