On today's episode of ✨️ Gina's Unnecessary Projects ✨️ We're building a kitchen island from wood scraps! Yaaay.

I need to get rid of these old boards and tiles in my shed, and my friend needs a kitchen island. Win win, right? 🔥

Current status: after some advanced maths I realized I don't have enough wood, so now the challenge is to find beams for the legs that look sort of similar to the rest of the wood. Aka "such a fun and cheap project wait how did this still cost me €100?" 💸💸💸

Problem #1: all the table leg beams at my local hardware store are a different color than the rest of my wooden boards 🥲

Spruce beams ("vuren") that are way too light

Problem #2: Pocketholes aren't a thing in Europe. "Just pre-drill at an angle and you'll be fine." Which to be fair, sort of works. But it looks awful and it feels super unsturdy.

Also I accidentally drilled a hole in the good side of the board, so now the ugly side will be on the outside 🥲🥲

Drilling holes at an angle feels so flimsy 😭 also my drill bit isnt long enough to reach into the table leg

I'm fitting the bottom shelves now. And either I can go with a shelve of 2 boards with massive gaps in between.. or 3 smaller boards with small gaps. See pic (table is upside down atm so shelves would go on the other side of the bottom 2 planks).

Opinions anyone?
