"Families of #Israelis being held #hostage by #Hamas were reprimanded by representatives of the #RedCross in a meeting earlier this week, with the Red Cross telling one family they need to "think about the #Palestinian side," KAN reported on Thursday night."
ID: Tweet by @/bintyalo that says, "If [#Israelis were #indigenous to #Palestine, they wouldn't be so ok with its destruction. They wouldn't burn olive trees that are older than their #constitution. They wouldn't attack #historical religious buildings. Their hearts would ache at the destruction of our #land". End ID]
To remind you: only 4% of #Israelis trust #Netanyahu. Stop blaming them for his crimes. This was all due to his policies, directly and indirectly, and they know it. They tried to get rid of him and failed. He deliberately strengthened #Hamas. Look how bouncy and ebullient he was when he started the bombings. They know he's a monster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2seEhSbc7KA
Second, we are struggling against the worst government #Israel has ever had. More Israelis than ever believe that #BenjaminNetanyahu|'s travesty of a cabinet must go. (...)
Our third war, shoulder to shoulder with #Jews and #Humanists worldwide, is against #Antisemitism, now clearly bonded with burning hatred of Israel."
"Netanyahu’s serial governments and Hamas’s leaders found each other useful for their own purposes.
The odd symbiosis endured — through years of escalations and accommodations, hopes of calm and periods of chaos — until now, when both #Hamas and #Netanyahu face a possible end to their hold on power....
I wonder...
What if the Israelis took #Palestinians hostage?
Would Hamas terrorists negotiate for their release?
...
of course NOT
Hamas terrorists are not there for the Palestinians.
"Prof. Yedidia Stern, President of JPPI, added, "This survey demonstrates that #Israelis are resolute in their belief that our security objectives must remain the top priority. It's a clear message that our citizens are united in their determination to safeguard our nation, both at home and abroad."
"Hamad claimed that 'everything [#Hamas] do is justifiable', declaring that 'we are the victims' as he vowed to remove #Israel from what he claimed is #Palestinian land.
He declared that the terror group is ready to pay the ultimate price, saying 'we are a nation of martyrs, and we are proud to sacrifice martyrs'.
He bragged that the slaughter of 1,400 #Israelis was a 'victory' for Hamas."
Mehdi Hasan to Mark Regev, senior Netanyahu advisor:
“If Hamas gunmen were hiding out in a school in Tel Aviv or in an apartment block in Haifa, would you be OK with the Israeli military dropping bombs on those buildings, leveling them, killing the innocent Israelis inside in order to get the Hamas gunmen? Would you do that?”
Actually, there are substantial indications that the #IDF did exactly that during the #Hamas intrusion. Like firing at cars from helicopters in the hope of killing Hamas operatives but with total disregard of any #Israelis present.
The #Netanyahu Government only cares about its own survival. Not about any innocent #Israeli people's lives and for sure not about any innocent #Palestinian people's lives.
The Israeli state is starving the people of Gaza and I don’t know how to wrap my head around the horror of this.
I watched Asad do this to Syrians for years and it is a horrific way to die. People with diabetes will die first, in agony, and then children and the elderly.
Yesterday, I posted a reply to the, IMHO, unbalanced view of respected German philosopher, #JürgenHabermas*.
As he chiefly saw the #Jewish side of the conflict, I tried to balance this, taking all sides legitimate interests into account, while adding the civilian Palestinian perspective.
Today, I came across an excellent recent op'ed in the #NYT by #ThomasLFriedman, who--
...maybe in all of #Jewish history — who has no will or ability to produce such an initiative...Worse...Prime Minister #BenjaminNetanyahu, continues to put the interests of holding on to the support of his far-right base...ahead of maintaining national solidarity or doing some of the basic things that #Biden needs."
Hamas' and their allies' strategy is becoming clearer:
"...#Israelis to begin driving up real estate prices in seemingly safer central #Israeli...

Substantial discussion of the evidence of forced displacements by #Israelis in WB (potential "grave violations of the Geneva Convention") & other #IHL/#WarCrime violations committed by Israelis in the WB. Notes 2023 was already the deadliest year on record for WB Palestinians before Oct 7.
Calls on Israel "urgently" to stop the settler violence & dispossession of land, & forced evictions & intimidation of Palestinians by Israeli state forces.

#CAIRO — After a long journey from #Gaza, more than 100 American citizens and their families have entered #Egypt through the #RafahCrossing. Thirteen #Israelis and four #Thai nationals were freed Saturday as part of a breakthrough deal between #Israel and #Hamas to pause fighting. As was expected under the agreement, a second-day release of 39 Palestinian prisoners held by Israeli authorities was implemented, a spokesperson for the Israel Prison Service said early Sunday, local time. #GazaTruce#Thailand
On Wednesday night, before the extension was announced, 10 #Israelis and four #Thais had been handed over to the #RedCross in #Gaza. The group included dual citizens with #US, #German and German nationality, Qatar said. The IDF said two hostages with Russian citizenship had crossed into #Egypt. Thirty Palestinian prisoners were later freed, including well-known activist #AhedTamimi.
