"It's our duty to fight back," said Rep. Summer#Lee, arguing that no super PAC "should be able to drop millions to usurp the conversation for their agenda."

‘Israelis, go back to Europe’? Some on the left need to rethink their slogans
by #Jo-AnnMort
"A majority of Israel’s #Jews today are not descended from #Europe, but rather from #Arab nations. To expect them to leave #Israel is unprecedented, unrealistic and wrong."
[I don't agree with her opinion on "river to the sea", but I do agree on "go back to Europe".]
After 75 years of failure, one would imagine that a people would learn what works and what doesn’t, both from their own experience, as well as the experience of others.
#WarOfndependence that began in 1947 was first a #civilWar between #Arabs and #Jews in #Palestine, and then a multi-state war… from at least five sovereign countries—#Egypt, #Transjordan, #Syria, #Iraq, and #Israel—as well as small contingents from others. It was a war fought village by village and town by town, and it resulted in massive population displacements on both sides.
No Jews remained anywhere in parts of Palestine that fell under #Arab control
These 3 wars are as different in form as any wars could be. Yet in several crucial ways they are quite similar.
For one, all 3 of these wars were preceded by months of excitement in the #Arab world & heated rhetoric that was simultaneously righteous & violent.
Righteous in that the cause of attacking #Jews was held to be an absolute good and a moral exigency infused with theological overtones. Violent in that the rhetoric was often openly #eliminationist
Of course, the promise of #revenge was not realized, and the expectant longing was not satisfied. The #Arabs were quickly routed, and almost all of the #Jews survived.
Then, however, despite the eagerness to fight, the incitement to war, and the euphoria at the prospect, this defeat was reconceived 🔥 not simply as a story of loss but once again into a story of #victimhood.
Hooboy... the largest left populist movement in the world is wild.
“No cause can justify such degradations that dirty the memory of the victims of the #Shoah and of the Righteous who saved #Jews at risk to their lives,” she said"
"As the descendant of European #jews I was raised in a particularly unforgiving moral environment when it came to the topic of bearing responsibility for ethnic cleansing," wrote Maj. Harrison Mann.
"With over 40,000 #Jews in #Mexico City, hailing from all different parts of the world, their culture and food is a beautiful mix of homely #Jewish cooking and authentic #Mexican#cuisine. It's this very blend that’s brought award-winning entertainer, television personality, and social media star, Eitan Bernath to unearth Mexico's hidden Jewish #culinary history.
Mexico City in many ways is a perfect microcosm of this diasporic history, with a Jewish population that spans #Ashkenazi, #Sephardi, and #Mizrachi#food stories all beautifully melding with traditional Mexican flavors."
A social media post expressing concern for Jews targeted in a pogrom is enough to qualify one as “Zionist.”
““This list, coupled with the many ways in which our authors have been targeted — review bombing, Jewish book event cancellations, online abuse and harassment, censorship — is deeply troubling, and is a part of our concerns about wider scale antisemitism in the literary world, and more generally,” she said.” #Antisemitism#Jews#Jewish#Books
Noting the ugly antisemitism his own family has dealt with, Robert Reich writes that he's glad that President Biden has confronted, antisemitism, but:
"I also worry that by speaking out against antisemitism without acknowledging what has sparked the student protests across America, he is conflating those protests with antisemitism.
By and large, the protests are not motivated by antisemitism."
"After many talks with demonstrators and faculty, it seems clear to me this protest movement is centered on moral outrage at the killings of tens of thousands of innocent people in Gaza, most of them women and children.
Many of the demonstrators are themselves Jewish.
Jews have been involved in these protests for the same reason Jews were so involved in other social justice movements —"
"such as the struggles for women’s rights, worker’s rights, civil rights, voting rights, free speech, and LGBTQ+ rights. And against the Vietnam War, apartheid in South Africa, and the Iraq War.
The oppression that Jewish people have experienced for hundreds if not thousands of years has taught Jews the necessity of standing up to injustice — whatever its form and whenever it appears."
“''If any Jewish person voted for Joe Biden, they should be ashamed of themselves.' That’s ex-President Trump this morning as he headed into the courtroom in New York City. This is worth everyone taking a close look at. When Trump feels cornered and scared one of his go-tos is to lash out at American Jews."
An anti-Israel student group at #Columbia Law School sent a threatening email on Friday telling #Jewish students that they will be neither "safe" nor "free" until "everyone is safe" and "Palestine is free."
The National Lawyers Guild chapter that defended #Hamas#Oct7 attack, put out a statement condemning school for calling in #NYPD to clear out occupied building.
The statement told #Jews that they are not safe & accused Jewish students who oppose divestment of threatening everyone's safety.
"To the #Jewish students, faculty, & trustees blocking divestment and urging the violent crackdowns on campus: you threaten everyone's safety. Our safety cannot be predicated on the oppression of others, whether campus protestors or Palestinians," the statement added.
The warning to #Jews at #Columbia was attributed to "the Jewish members" of the National Lawyers Guild chapter.
While no students publicly signed their names on the letter, the group's organizing committee took credit.
🧵 It feels inappropriate to argue on such matters on a Day of Remembrance, but since such a day became a stage for distorting truth and the essence of the #Holocaust, it seems necessary to do so.
In his speech Biden drew a parallel, comparing #Nazis murdering 6000000 #Jews during the Holocaust to #Hamas' 1200 Israeli victims during the Oct 7 attack. That was a x5000 stretch of truth and logic, without counting the 35000+ victims of #Israeli horrible thirty-eyes-for-an-eye retaliation,
