After 75 years of failure, one would imagine that a people would learn what works and what doesn’t, both from their own experience, as well as the experience of others.

These 3 wars are as different in form as any wars could be. Yet in several crucial ways they are quite similar.

For one, all 3 of these wars were preceded by months of excitement in the #Arab world & heated rhetoric that was simultaneously righteous & violent.

Righteous in that the cause of attacking #Jews was held to be an absolute good and a moral exigency infused with theological overtones. Violent in that the rhetoric was often openly #eliminationist

Israeli military forces have killed more medics than Hamas commanders, with hundreds of documented attacks on medical facilities, ambulances & personnel.

Combined with deprivations of food, clean water, shelter & energy, the collapse of the health system in means devastating epidemics approach.

Senior Israeli government figures have openly been using language.

Giora Eiland, former operations chief & current defence advisor, wrote this in a major 'centrist' newspaper in Israel: "The international community is warning us against severe humanitarian disaster and severe epidemics. We must not shy away from this. After all, severe epidemics in the south of Gaza will bring victory closer. There's no reason why the Hamas generals in southern Gaza wouldn't surrender when they have no fuel, no water, and when plagues reach them and the danger to the lives of their family members will increase".

To which the current finance minister replied: "I agree with every word".

The goals of leadership go well beyond merely targeting . That line, endlessly repeated by western governments & media, is PR for a modicum of . According to many recognised experts in such matters, the goal of this conflict is and .

This video includes more examples of the openly stated #eliminationist rhetoric from #Israeli officials, as well as some discussion of the increasing frequency of their referring to all #Palestinians as "Nazis" and to their violence in #Gaza (and the #WestBank) as "de-Nazification", echoing the alleged justifications from #Putin for #Russia's invasion of #Ukraine, a horrendous conflict that has nonetheless seen significantly fewer civilians murdered and maimed in twenty-one months than the #IDF has been responsible for in Gaza in less than two months.

Right on the mark. Highly recommended

Main is not the absence of free but the existence of

is not merely , or for , but for of Israel

"when given chance to establish a state, [Palestinians] have rejected it time and again"

The quandary is outcome of 3 pivotal - wars: 1 brought , 2 brought , 3 brought

1947 also saw the partition of , months before the partition of British .

Both India & largely accepted the outcome. Even though hostilities continue to the day, there was never "openly rhetoric" between the two.

, the leap from to , is astonishing. More astonishing is the change in meaning of Nakba itself — from humiliating defeat to forced victimhood — laced with envy for rationalizers

The language being used to describe Palestinians is genocidal

I covered the Rwandan genocide as a reporter. The language spilling out of Israel is eerily familiar

Republicans are trying to shut down the government over “spending” again

Trump raised the national debt by $7.8 trillion

Number of Republicans who wanted to shut down the government then: 0

@flexghost Being accused of hypocrisy has no effect on the #eliminationist #GOP. They exempt themselves from the crap they force on all *others. The cruelty is the point. It’s okay to bankrupt the government when a Republican does it. All ordained by their #ChristianNationalist god.
