Hey #Ottawa#Gatineau friends, where would you recommend eating nearish Chaudière (in either city)? We landed a babysitter for tomorrow night and plan to #OttBike#VeloGat to Festibiere and have a nice dinner before hand.
Saturday's #cycling around #Gatineau and #Ottawa. The exact route is in the map Alt text; I ventured a bit further north than last time, and paid for my curiosity with a long uphill climb. Almost all of this is on recreational pathways, and six traffic lights. Great day to be out biking around.
Did have an unsafe passing with an NCC vehicle on the way down; they crossed the solid line to pass some cyclists coming uphill, I had four seconds to maneuver (video goes up tomorrow). #OttBike
Looking forward to trying this out. Perhaps this aft.
The Chief William Commanda bridge, connecting Ottawa and Gatineau, is now open. The bridge links multi-use pathways on both sides of the Ottawa river. #Transit#OttBike#Ottawa#Gatineau#Cycling
Can confirm that the William Commanda bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau is open, but we still have to deke around a barrier to reach it. Not quite sure why the path is still barricaded. #ottawa#gatineau#ottbike
I'm not new to Mastodon... been around long enough to feel the loss of my toot history as I change to my self-hosted instance.
I'm largely interested in sustainability and community, and generally follow people who will help to expand my awareness and optimism. The second seems somewhat hard to come by these days. I also addictively follow politics, which doesn't help the optimism.
Went in to a sports store today and they have already started their seasonal change over. Downhill skis were on display. Realistically it's five months until there is enough snow on area ski hills to contemplate downhill skiing.
With the opening of the Chief William Commanda bridge, it was time to create an update of my subway style #bike map with routes of the Canadian #Ottawa#Gatineau capital region #ottbike#ottwalk (and yes, not all mups are on here). The map shows a network of routes, simular to how subway maps look like, to visualize the cycling opportunities on multi use pathways in the area. This map doesn’t show bike lanes on roads.
Friday: 150 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of runner's yoga, 30 minutes of strength training (#AppleFitness), then 5.3 km of #running (7°C), and then 24.5 km of #cycling.
Typing all that out now feels like it was a lot for a Friday morning, but all in all, it felt pretty good.
Apparently, there is potential asbestos exposure at Place du portage III right now. If you know public servants working there, they might want to go to a collab space for the rest of the week.
It's been a stressful day.. my mind is racing with a lot of anxieties and I've been unable to sleep at all..
Hopefully this waterfall video I made a few weeks ago will help calm my mind..
The snowsuits are stacked high at #ottawa#Costco today. I didn't see any kids sweating, as their parents forced them to try them on, while parent ponders how many sizes they'll grow over 5 months.
Extra busy because of the Quebec holiday and everyone from #Gatineau is here.
Oof we did a 50 km bike ride to Aylmer and back today for Kyle's birthday, with a picnic! We're both very sore 😆 and we finally went across the new bridge, but the cross wind was scary!!
There were a few stupid detours, and Kyle got to yell at a couple drivers in downtown Ottawa.
Overnight camp for kids and adults with developmental disabilities needs staff urgently

Currently we do not have enough staff to run our camp at full capacity. In order to avoid reducing camp registrations we are reaching out to you for help in reaching a broader staff network
