Hmm I'm actually slightly worried about my dad. He has started forgetting a lot of stuff, and my mom told me today that he sometimes "invent" memories.

He actually told her not long ago that "they traveled a lot with us kids"......

We were pretty poor when I was a kid, there was definitely not a lot of traveling 🤨

He wasn't the best dad, he definitely wasn't the best husband... But my mom telling me he's not "aging gracefully" is not good. She deserves the world.

So my whole (old) team is forced to do mandatory overtime this weekend because a client decided that, after three rounds of modifications, their document needed to be delivered two days before the deadline. For reasons.

Every single long weekend, I swear.

I do not miss this, even with the more intense days at the new position.

(My coworker just sent me the "What if I told you, your failure to plan is not my emergency" meme 😆 )

Je cherche le contenu français pour voir ou écouter -- les émissions, les balados, etc. Au travail, je lis et j'écris en français tous les jours et chez moi je lis avec mes enfants en les deux langues, mais je veux améliorer ma compréhension orale. Suggestions?

J'aime les balados sur l'histoire en anglais et les émissions science-fiction et fantastique (mais pas d'horreur!), mais j'apprécie toutes les suggestions.

@dairpo ce qu'on fait à la maison, c'est écouter des films et des séries du Québec avec des sous-titres français pour vraiment aider la compréhension orale! Il y a de très bons films québécois sur Netflix et quelques séries aussi (il y a un filtre Canada, des fois Canadien Français)

On s'abonne aussi de temps en temps à tou.tv pour plus de choix!

It took less than three hours, split in two periods. We also work from home, thank you.

It's almost election season and I see so many people are finally waking up to the dilemma of consistently "voting for the lesser of two evils" has brought us. I said this in 2016 when I decided to not vote for Clinton or Trump, I said it again in 2020 when I decided not to vote for Biden or Trump.

Every single time I was derided and said, "lesser of two evils is still evil." Everyone said "settle for Biden." This is exactly what settling has brought us.

@Cassandra Yes! Finances are not my specialty. And House committees have rules (writing and translating) that are different than debates (and different from the Senate and the Senate committees).. it's a whole thing.

@msquebanh I would never, ever, think of telling you "But you have to vote for Trudeau, even though your lived experience under him, because this even more terrible thing will probably happen under Poilievre.

This is not convincing anyone, and it's also very dismissive of what you're going through right now. I do try to make it better under the other parties instead.

Yoghurt making started this morning.

Our little 8-container yoghurt incubator works well for the Canadian bagged-milk situation. When I have one container left, I heat up a single bag's volume of milk (1.3 L) then let it cool. That volume plus the last container dumped in to inoculate the batch makes exactly 8 full containers again. A continuous loop.

@WTL @driusan There is something about people accusing mastodon.social to limit/suspend their accounts because they support Gaza.

Almost all of them end up being hateful towards other group and whine about the instance instead.
