Can anyone recommend a good #EMDR therapist for online treatment? I'm trying to research it on my own and it's exhausting. A testimonial from someone saying 'this one knows their stuff and isn't a dick/is easy to talk to' would really help. The ones I've found don't seem to offer sample sessions like other therapists. The last therapist i approached did have a sample session and was awful, so I'm wary.
Woman or non-binary person preferred. Experience with #CPTSD preferred if you know. #therapy
hi, i'm rune! :heart_disability: i'm nonbinary (she/her), bi/pan, polyamorous, pro-kink, and more! despite my limited spoons, i’m fascinated by most everything in the world, including...
gaming (ffxiv, minecraft…) :gaming_love:
writing (prose, poetry, roleplay…) 🖋️
reading (sff, romance…) 📚
programming & math :blobfox_computer:
music (listening, performing, & composing) 🎹
psychology & philosophy :galaxy_brain:
visual art (illustration, animation, 3D…) 🎨
the list goes on! and there are so many fascinating things in the world i haven’t even heard of yet!
i'm an ADHD autist and i love getting to know people, but still learning how to make room for myself. i also suffer from complex PTSD and other disabilities, which have resulted in my plurality. i’m happy to meet singlets and other systems alike! :plural_ampersand:
i care deeply about accessibility and disability rights, queer rights, racial equality—really the whole spectrum of human rights (intersectionality is important!) as well as animal rights and environmental issues. honestly, i just care a whole-heckin-lot! :heart_progress: :ms_globe:
unfortunately, this causes a lot of overwhelm and i’m struggling to balance effective activism with self-care. so i might not always be able to engage or research as thoroughly as i’d like. i do what i can to make informed choices and reduce harm, and i’m hoping to curate a space for myself that offers at least some relief from the dumpster fire we live in. :dumpster_fire:
there's probably still a million-billion things i'd like to add but can't remember. above all, the most important thing you need to know about me is that my favorite color is blue. :ms_heart_blue:
I've started a new Fetlife group for disabled people. It was started after it became apparent that the other group was going to allow chasers to fetishise and objectify disabled people and that the group wasn't safe for us.
Disabled people are treated like our bodies, our stories, are public property - especially so for those of us who are Aboriginal, who are Black, or People of Colour, who are trans or queer, or read as women.
Consider that if someone with a disability is posting their mutual aid links, either give/share/support or just move on.
Don't message us asking why we're disabled or why we're not on disability support pensions - that's nunya. NUNYA.
The mastodon-native version will hopefully be up later this week!
Also, a very big thanks to @Impossible_PhD for not only publishing both of these intimate pieces on gender trauma on her own blog, but also for editing and helping me refine these pieces. You're amazing and wonderful Doc! 💖
I'm trying to put together a short list of the basic concepts that are essential to understanding the #ActuallyAutistic experience of life. These can be helpful for explaining things to allistics/neurotypicals, but also for seeing ourselves from our own perspective instead of how we are failed NTs. I think it's just a few (albeit big) concepts. Here's my basic list:
#AskingAutistics Do you have your own short list of concepts for understanding or explaining #autism? What are the big ideas that shape your experience of #autistic life?
Many blame the poor for being unable to sustain their lives in the systems of this society - not realizing the fact that there are many #eugenics at play and this is some of what many of the #marginalized call systemic oppression
The #disabled community has been marked and labeled as "dangerous" as have #minorities and those living in #poverty
The truth is our existence stands as proof that "hard work" doesn't save you from death and despair or poverty
I have #CPTSD and #scoliosis & I've spent years trying to dig my family out of poverty, alone, with no help, consistently denied aid in times of crisis as I am now, my own blood telling me to stop asking for help when I only asked once, and I sacrificed for him to have his educational needs met instead of feeding myself more than once
I ask for #MutualAid because I have learned the hard way that this system just wants me to die and disappear
My real heart & spirit can't even strive within it
If you have ever filled out a diagnostic questionnaire, which questions bugged you (and why) & which did you think were missing?
You can also answer privately, if you want.
I'm am starting to collect questions and ideas in order to optimise diagnostic tools.
Please add, which diagnosis you're referring to and which language the questionnaire was in.
It doesn't matter which one it is, here are just some examples: #ADHD#autism#depression#PTSD#cPTSD#DID#anxiety
Since I've only been on here a week I'm posting a 2nd #introduction ...I'm Bryan (duh) in #Ottawa, almost 50 (embracing it), #bisexual cat dad (my baby's turning 5 in June), here for some #queer content, maybe some music (I'm a #disco and #edm fanatic), movies (keen on #horror right now), some real talk about ME / #CFS, #trauma / #PTSD / #CPTSD, and I might talk about working out and cooking (because no one's ever done that online). Here's a 30-year-old photo of me, I look EXACTLY the same now.
