I can't usually see the tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera aka tulip poplar) blossoms because they're so high up in the trees. But this one fell down, probably knocked off by a greedy squirrel (they like to nibble the blossoms and lick the nectar out of the center). So pretty!
I have always fancied columbine. I'm a sucker for new varieties I see at nurseries. These and a couple of others have naturalized at my place. #Flowers#BloomScrolling
The other half is gearing up to revive her YouTube channel. It was started in 2008 with short clips of the plants she lovingly tended in her garden. She was into her “third season” when a bushfire came through in 2011 and much of the garden was engulfed by the flames. The bushfire became her last video uploads.
Now, over a decade later, and Cilla is finally picking up her passion again, and plans to return to Cilla’s Garden. She’s currently doing time lapse videos of the cleanup. The gardens and pathways are all overgrown and she’s been inspired by lawn mowing time lapse videos of people cleaning up overgrown yards.

So the deck is pretty much together. And it’s a gorjeeus evening. Hanging in the hot tub while Mark & Murray chill on the deck. The birdsong! The flowers! It’s May 30th in Michigan. #May2024#PureMichigan#Today#BloomScrolling
Familiar, comforting sounds all morning from the landscaping project next door (we remodeled everything in our first home). I think today is redwood deck day.
Also the day of tiny flying things - bumblebee, hummingbird, dragonfly, butterfly - in my garden. (Oleanders at their peak bloom, below.)
Clean house, clean sheets, & I still don’t have to cook, thank you taco soup. Another blissful Thursday.
Bonus: Trump GUILTY x 34.
A few garden flowers that just opened
Columbine we planted last year (and in fancy colors, @dillyd ) and a Rocky Mtn Penstemon, also planted last year.
