little Buddy liked to spread out. He'd do this in doorways and top of the stairs to keep us sharp, and on our toes.
He didn't know about other cats, or dogs. He'd never met one. He longed to play with the pitbulls next door. He was as big as one, when they were a pup!
He did people things. Travel, socialize with cat haters, smother you like a sack of potatoes. Trapped my wife in bed.
I have so many photos of Buddy, not as good a quality as today, we barely had digital when he was alive.
He spent a great deal of time, living in the space between my keyboard and chair and at one time, with a second cat, you could not tell there was anything computer related on the desk. They covered it entirely
Buddy was a big boy. He was gentle, but heavy. When a tiny palm size feral kitten appeared under my deck with no mommy, we both adopted it. The introduction required separation to protect the tiny kitten. This is where he stayed during that meet phase..
Hi All,
This is an ALT TEXT CONTEST. So it’s NOT a caption contest. The goal is to accurately describe what you see in the picture to someone who is visually impaired.
Five months ago, before she died, my 91-year-old great-grandmother described to me how, while her mother was taken to the gas chambers by the Nazis, she asked her mother, "Where are you going?" and "When are you coming back?" She never saw her mother again. I was literally shaking while I was listening.
Now, when I checked Twitter, I bumped into two accounts, one "verified," and the other one lost their "verification" yesterday. I'll just leave it right here...
@DavidSchwartz Well, I’m going to need a shower after copying and pasting the text from that image but people who use screen readers deserve to see it too:
Screenshot of a tweet from a verified account called “Not your safe space” with video of Hitler juxtapositioned with the Twitter profile of the Auschwitz Memorial (unverified).
Tweet reads: “They knew. They knew what laid ahead, generations from their time. How far would be too far to protect your children and you children's children from the strongly advancing societal decay that envelops us today? What would you not give to yours to guarantee a future without it?”
(If you like, you can edit the post and add this alt text to the image directly which would make it easier for people who use screen readers.)
If you use #AltText, I have one thing to say to you.
Thank you. You may not get commentary on a post every time you write it out acknowledging that you did, but as someone who's #Blind, trust me. We notice.
If you don't write AltText on your photos, we notice that too. Please give it a try. Imagine how you'd feel if you came across picture after picture that looks like a blank screen to you. You'd be frustrated, right?
If you don't know where to start, check out my pinned thread on AltText.

I, too, decided to have that policy, aided by the creators of the #Fedilab app which pops up a dialog box: "image has no #AltText. Are you sure you want to boost?"
But I think a kinder way is to boost, and then tell the post-er who wrote the post, "Hey, people appreciate alt text --how 'bout you put some?"
Maybe I'll even volunteer some alt text that can be cut& pasted in easily.
"Transcribe the full text": All the text that's in the image.
"Transcribe and provide context": All the text, but also add that this is a screenshot of a news article, or a tweet, etc.
"Rough description of the image": Just to get the point across, omitting some details.
"I don't add description". Oh come on! https://stefanbohacek.online/@stefan/109818219542503029
I've forgotten some. There's seeds on a pineapple, and on a Banana. Both are likely sterile but I tried each without success.
Right now, I am growing daffodils from last year's seeds.
I've started one or two pots of all my varieties of tomatoes to see what starts. They should be able to go out in the greenhouse in a few weeks.
The first #wildflowers I've discovered this year on #ClearCreekTrail in #Coralville, Iowa. My ID app suggests that they are Anemone hepatica, aka liverwort aka kidneywort aka pennywort & I tend to agree. This would be a new species for me. I think they're gorgeous and I may see if I can't add this species to my #garden at some point.

#introduction post! This is an account made for adding alt text to animal bot posts via the comments section. Experimental, work in progress, feedback always useful. Feel free to tag me with requests for text to be added to an animal post, questions, or just to say hello. Main account @secretsloth (this account being separate will mean I can post more without being annoying! Woo!) #AltText
Follow any and everyone that looks even remotely interesting to you. You can always unfollow later if needed.
Use a few relevant hashtags in your posts to reach folks with similar interests.
You can follow hashtags for subjects you're interested in! If you see a hashtag in a post, tap on it, then tap the + icon to follow all posts with that hashtag. Or search for hashtags in your Explore tab (# or search icon depending on what app you are using).
Please add #AltText to your images to improve the experience for EVERYONE. It's easy: once you've uploaded your image, just tap Edit: pretend you're describing the image to a friend who can't see it. It's the nice thing to do and increases chances your post will get boosted. Follow @PleaseCaption for reminders.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart that you liked my post from last night and you have shared and favorited.
Also all those who still follow I thank you from the bottom of my heart❤️
I asked myself if we people that we hope can bring a change and yes we can.
We just must not give up believing in a better and kinder world and create it for us and those we love.
