@RobertMaguire#ALT4You#AltText: A screen grab from CNN which says: Longtime Trump Organization executives Matthew Calamari Sr. and his son Matthew Calamari Jr. are expected to appear Thursday before the grand jury investigating possible mishandling of classified documents brought to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, sources said. Prosecutors are expected to ask them about the handling of the surveillance footage and Trump employees’ conversations following the subpoena, according to the sources.
How is the shirt read 🥺?
I get the #BLM
I understand the meaning "past patiently waiting."
I don't know Hamilton (I'm not aware that is played outside the US)
But "past black patiently lives waiting. Matter"?
Maybe it's a language issue on my side? #AltText would have been helpful for me 😉
@DrRGST Image description: A photograph of several musicians, focused on one who is playing an enormous octobass. This is a version of the contrabass that's roughly twice as large. The bassist in the photo is a balding white man who is holding a large bow in his right hand and manipulating some levers that side at the junction of the body and the neck of the instrument. The neck of the instrument rises about 3 feet above the man's head, and he's standing on a stool. The background is wooden paneling.
Edit: I was so intrigued I had to look it up, and it seems like this photo is of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, as of 2016 the only working orchestra in the world to have an octobass. Pretty neat!
Question for people who rely on alt text descriptions. I post work in progress in a thread. Is it necessary to describe everything that is the same as the previous picture, or can I say "same as above but added ..." I'm starting to worry about running out of characters!
I did it. I persuaded my wife Kirsten to finally join us. Follow @MoonCat if you feel so inclined. Tried to find her an instance devoted to the feline world but I couldn't find one, so she's here for now.
@FreakyFwoof While I can't recommend a specific server, here's the next best thing. This account is all about cats, all the time.

Even better, every single image is #AltText described.
@Freedom_Press Image description: Photograph of a person dressed in green camouflage style fatigues, including a green scarf over mouth & nose, wearing a helmet, & grasping a rifle whose barrel is pointing at the sky. Behind the person is forest.
*I can't see the image so we'll see how I did when I hit publish
**I missed the black & red flag patch on the sleeve
This may be an unpopular take, but...
I don't think any blind person will ever be completely independent. I do, however, think that every blind person can be self-sufficient. Independence, to me, implies a lack of reliance on anyone/anything. But everyone needs help sometimes. Self-sufficiency, on the other hand, is about having the tools you need, and the ability to get assistance, to go where you need to go/do what you need to do.
Thoughts? #Blind#Disability#Disabled#A11y#Accessibility
@jrp Not at all.
Mastodon is the most accessible social media I have ever used, actually. So much of social media is visual, photos and the like. But I have seen more #AltText here than I have anywhere else. This means I can engage with people in a much more meaningful way if I want to, depending on what they post a picture of and what I'm interested in.
