just finished watching! i absolutely loved the sfx, they were incredible. i was a bit shocked at how the previous battles with the thing were more riveting than the final one
“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline.
I’ve been refusing to watch trailers for a few years now. They always drop “surprise” characters in the trailers (Which, y’know, kinda ruins the whole fun of it.), spoil the whole idea of the movie, ruin some of the jokes for engagement, etc…
The only time I will even consider watching one is when I know fuck all about a film or what’s happening in it.
I'm often looking for something to watch though, so I do watch trailers sometimes. If it's something I want to see I try to only watch like, the first 1/3 of the trailer.
I remember it as really depressing; is that accurate?
You're have to ask someone (besides yourself) who's seen the film. I haven't even read the book in english.
Since it's about a woman who witnesses a suicide, is raped, gets forced into a life of sexwork, and eventual husband offs himself, yeah "depressing" sounds about right. 🤔
I am one of those subscribers. I did not leave because of the name. I left because Zaslav took an axe to a lot of the content my family used the service for. And then even if that hadn't been enough to drive us off, they jacked up the prices so they could include a bunch of horseshit reality TV.
I don’t think the issue is the economy of it, rather politics. The current studios have so much power that they will need to fight them at every step. From marketing, distributions to IPs and licenses. If you think they can afford this battle, you gotta remember who was paying them in the first place
Yeah, writers and actors who did that would probably have a lot of difficulty getting gigs in mainstream Hollywood studios. Any actor who is already rich and doesn't care about extreme fame could easily do it, but I think a lot of rich famous actors are kind of addicted to gigantic paychecks and fame...
How big are these two guilds? Their combined power should be able to tell the money-guzzling old-guard to shove it. And them not getting gigs with the old-guard would be the point, no? Why create a new studio to then work with the old one?
The entire cast of Oppenheimer walked away from their premier and striked.
