Introducing a new crow! This one is very vocal. The parents leave it in my pine tree while they do crow stuff and it talks up a storm, it’s incredibly cute. This is the third fledgling I’ve had the pleasure of getting to observe over a course of three years. I won’t fall in love with this crow because now I understand that they will leave and I’m always left with the parent crows again who are rather aloof with me 🥹

Christ almighty, can you radio people STOP FUCKING EATING when you're ON THE AIR! It's gross! Making we want to tune out of this show permanently.
Why is it that one host gets it and the other clearly doesn't?!
The other thing that pisses me off is the lip smack. Slightly open your mouth before you start talking. Or lick your lips. Or MUTE YOURSELF and take a sip of water. Don't allow your lips to glue themselves together.
You're supposed to be professionals.... UGGGGGH

Ok, baby ground squirrels to the rescue showing the fox squirrels how lids work 🤗
They have an advantage in that they work together to solve problems, two or three little heads are better than one!

Here there are two babies, one eating nuts through the open lid and the second is getting nut crumbs through the hole that the fox squirrel made in the corner

    Someone in my neighborhood uses a leaf blower EVERY DAY. I have no idea as to why that might be necessary.
    Worse yet, they don't just turn it on and off. It's like they're revving it - reeeeeRRRRReeeeeRRRRR - JFC, turn the damn thing on, get your stuff done and turn it off! UGH.

    @mattblaze This is fantastic! An icon here in my hometown.
    As an observer, I'm getting a "Nighthawks" feel... or a still from a film noir.
    Yet at the same time, I get a sense of happiness and camaraderie from the people gathered at the entrance - and why not - candy!

    I heard someone pounding on my door twice early this morning. I'm in an apartment and this is the inside back door, with the outside back door obviously being locked overnight. Happened at 4, and again at about 4:30. I thought maybe my neighbor downstairs was having some type of emergency.
    It took me a minute both times to get to the door but when I got there, no one was there. So that kinda freaked me out. Was I dreaming? No I wasn't. Then I remembered... my cat occasionally likes to first paw at the door, quietly... and then pound on it like she's punching a speed bag. She normally does not do this in the middle of the night! That had to have been it. Of course both times I got up, she was nowhere near the door and just wandering around nonchalantly. 😑

    Can’t wait til Feditext goes off beta. Metatext is unusable. I have to wait for 3 minutes before I can scroll. Another 2 minutes before my keystrokes are recognized. Then once I post, I go back to look at my timeline. About 25 posts show from the last few minutes, then it jumps to 2 weeks ago. I don’t know what the hell happened to this app.

    What would the people who wrote, and ratified, the Fourteenth Amendment have thought about this Supreme Court decision?

    Would they have thought, oops, our bad. We didn’t write that clearly enough.

    They didn’t want anyone who had participated in an insurrection ever to hold public office, much less be allowed to run for President. They said that as clearly as they could.

    They didn’t specify an enforcement mechanism—they trusted us future people to work out the details.

    We’ve let them down.

    I know people have strong opinions about pictures of birds on feeders but I like the very close access it gives me to observe them 👀 I think you should take pictures wherever you find beauty ☺️

    An Allen’s hummingbird clinging to the feeder head raised in anticipation of an attack from the other unseen hummers zooming around him. There is something amphibious in his appearance, the feathers of his gorget looking like scales. Unfocused red and green of salvia blooms in the background.
    Two Allen’s hummingbirds swoop around the feeder against a blurry background of salvia. One just tried to dislodge the other from the feeder.
    An adult male Anna’s hummingbird tilts its head quizzically at me as it perches on the feeder, his gorget shines with beautiful rose and fuchsia tones. The background is blurry green leaves.

    Dolores only finds kibble for the crows on the snack plate so she comes and finds me, of course I have a walnut in my pocket for her 🤣

    Now the same squirrel has crossed the yard to find me where I’m taking pictures of hummingbirds. She stands fully upright smiling at me, paws tucked to her chest in anticipation of the walnut she knows is coming
