Actually, by pirating I have a higher quality video than paying for Prime Video, because their stupid DRM doesn't support HD video on Linux, and from torrents I can watch in 1080p with no problem

@vwbusguy I've tried Silverblue, but didn't stick for long, because I didn't really know how to use it. All I know is "just use Flatpak. Oh, and there's also Toolbox if you need it". But how do I install my favorite terminal apps? How do I use them in VSCode, which I installed as a Flatpak? How to install for example Ruby to have it both in VSCode, RubyMine and terminal? What can I even use Toolbox for? I think there needs to be some sort of a guide to immutable OS on Silverblue's download page

Someone's asked me to remind people to set the image focus / crop centre tool when uploading images on Mastodon.

Although the Mastodon default web interface no longer crops images, some other apps and interfaces do, and images may be difficult to see on some timelines if the focus hasn't been set.

To set focus on Mastodon web interface:

  1. Attach image
  2. Click Edit
  3. Choose focus point
  4. Click Apply

Apps will have various interfaces for setting focus.

A 2009 #Macbook got a second life. It had #MacOS Sierra (EOL 4 years ago) installed and was terribly slow with it. The original hard drive replaced with SSD, memory upgraded from 4 to 8 GB, #Fedora #Linux (#Silverblue) installed and it's a decent laptop again.

@sesivany I used a 2011 MBP for a year, but it had problems with waking from sleep on Fedora. I didn't manage to find out why. I settled on openSUSE, but I still had problems with Broadcom WiFi drivers. I gave up and bought a 2019 ThinkPad.

UPDATE: Aaaarrgghhhhhhh! 😱 I had a number of people asking me for clarification of the poll, so I edited option wording, but this caused it to reset the responses to zero. I am so sorry! 🥴

The latest figures before I messed this up were this:

About 75% of people clicking on a link to a Mastodon post saw it displayed a normal post, 25% saw it displayed in a browser window.
