Using @organicmaps to prepare my holiday itinerary - saving places to a bookmark list, downloading offline maps to my tablet. It's really great -- would be even better if I could order the bookmarks manually.

I am daily driving #AppleMaps now for around a year. And wow … it is bad. I just didn’t switch back because I am stubborn and I prefer no ads but the data is absolutely horrible (I am in #Singapore ).
Does anyone have other alternatives to #GoogleMaps, or any tips?

@loke @cliftonmr @kevindreher @organicmaps thanks for your and everyone else’s contributions, that’s how the most detailed and up to date maps are created. One of our goals is to provide an easy to use basic OSM map editor so anyone, including your parents, can actualize the map data.

This is where I live. There is no such thing as New Emory Road. There is no such thing as Old Emory Road. What is marked as Old Emory Road is merely Emory Road, the other one is just State Highway 61. The location is Blaine Tennessee, 61 goes nowhere close to where Emory Road goes.

Hi @organicmaps
I just found I do not get any updates more from F-Droid.
After some investigation I found it's not been updated there. On Google Play it is. Are you no FOSS any longer or what's the problem? I donate regularly in the hope it stays free. If not, and you have a different business model than donations, it is fine, but I would like to know I can stop sending some money. Please tell me what's going on here. Thanks.

Have I my mentioned how totally awesome @organicmaps's new "Outdoors map style" is - a mode that highlights tracks and trails?! It's absolutely splendid, and amazingly accurate even for small paths (built on OSM).

By the way: is fully offline, requires no registration, has no ads, no tracking - and works very well. So it depends on donations, like the fediverse does! Use and support them if you value it

I love what @organicmaps is doing but I need a way to "bookmark" locations on a map that's web accessable. I am still relying way too much on pins saved in Google Maps and I want to find a nice way to remove as much of that relience as possible.

@liaizon @organicmaps web sync is possible in the future. You can use google takeout and convert your bookmarks from geojson to kml, and then import them to OM.

With the news that Google is going to "supercharge" Maps with "AI" (and the poor results I've had with Apple Maps), I finally checked out OpenStreetMap: https://www.openstreetmap.org/

OMG THIS IS AMAZING. So much more useful detail! Incredible! Going to dig up an app for my phone and use this for a while to see how it compares to the ad- and AI-ridden nonsense.
