Real media/digital literacy has nothing to do with uncontrollable private, 24x7x365 access for children.

The former is surely good, and the sooner all children acquire it the better, but it doesn't need the latter at all.

In this picture, online identification schemes are as useful as closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

But every word you write is what I call "second-hand smoking" in the article, AND the reason why I say part 2 of the solution is "Bottom-up social pressure", as explained in the "Social pressure, please" paragraph.

Reusing your words, if those older friends in 3rd grades were smoking at recess, all the OTHER parents would raise hell, wouldn't they? The same must happen with smartphones. Sure, it's a long march, but it has to start now
