I have been putting post-it #DadJokes in my husbands lunch pack each morning, so when he sits down to lunch out in the field, he gets a giggle.

Today's one was:

After a bad harvest, why did the farmer decide to try a career in music?

'Cause he had so many sick beets.

I really don't want to run out of #BadJokes so if you have any crackers, toot 'em at me!

Ive been trying to track down a book I read and loved as a kid and have searched for, but can't remember the author or title, so thought maybe the fediverse could help me track it down.

I read it in the late 80's / early 90's, but I remember the cover art being a bit "old fashioned" so it technically could have been published the 70's or earlier.

The story revolved around a kid/kids moving to (or just spending the summer at) an old American farmhouse that was haunted by the ghost of a young boy in "wild west" style clothes. The main plot is the kids solving the mystery of the ghost boys death, that involved a train heist 100 years earlier and the boy being killed for betraying the gang who did the heist.

I think. like I say, I read it 30+ years ago, but remember loving it and would now love to read it to my kids.

Any ideas out there? Anyone remember a book like that?

I, admittedly, curse way too much, but I just adore a faux curse. When I was a kid, one of my Mom's friends was a very proper Southern lady. Instead of saying "They think their shit don't stink" she would say, "Some people think they poo poo vanilla ice cream".

What is your favorite faux curse?

@RickiTarr All of the made up curse words in the #SciFi series #Farscape were great! Especially their "F" word: "Frell". It always made me smile when one of the actors dropped that one with a completely serious face.

I still use some of those words now if I need a bit of strong emphasis but my kids are within earshot. Like "Ow! I stubbed my frelling toe!"

    I'm celebrating 1 year on mastodon today.

    I'm so grateful that @saustrup made and put out a call on Facebook inviting folks to join up. This place has renewed my joy in online community and social media in general.

    PUT A "MUTE HASHTAG" BUTTON BELOW THE "FOLLOW HASHTAG" BUTTON, Mastodon!

    Make it as easy to say "no, I don't want to hear about this" as it is to say "yes, this is essential to my feed."

    This really seems like an easy decision / fix.

    @Cassandra I just use Mastodons filter settings for that, but yes, it would be nice to be able to add a hashtag to a filter from the hashtag page.
