Somewhere between last weekend and this weekend I've lost the brush attachment for the hand vacuum cleaner. Somewhere in the 80 square meters of this house. I've been searching for hours now. And yes, this is causing me a significant amount of distress. (yay brains, why can't they just let stuff like this go?)

Advice wanted from the handy person types:

I’m pretty good at things like doing electrical boxes, hanging drywall etc. The drain pipe and trap on our kitchen sink is shot. It’s been patched so many times. It’s basically made of glue and JB Weild. I don’t want to hire a plumber because I think I can do it myself. However the threads on the sink that connect to the drain are gummed up. Wall connection is probably fine. Sink is 70 years old and horrible.

Am I nuts?

I went to this restaurant on the Las Vegas strip called Stanton Prime tonight, and one of the regulars shared a giant dessert with me and the bar manager had me try some new gins, and it was absolutely the best experience and food I’ve ever had in Las Vegas - so if you’re there I recommend you sit at the bar. I’m so happy!!!

A seem of brownish looking ants coming from a crack between slabs of sidewalk. They form a clump with a gravely texture in the middle and spread out more thinly to the top and bottom of the frame.

I’m low key incredibly-incredibly nervous about teaching my first SANS class this week, even though I speak all over the world, do Toastmasters, have taught weekly for the past decade, and do the subject matter as a principal, daily. I sincerely hope I don’t fuck it up. I’m going to see RuPaul after the class in case I do, though.

Possibly an unpopular position, but I am digging the absolute madness of Foundation, S2. They were struggling with the weight of plot and Asimov’s legacy in S1. In S2, it feels like they threw off the tighter shackles and are exploring weird outer limits of dangerous ideas. I don’t know if it’s great—some scenes feel almost UNacted, like a runthrough that was filmed—but it’s intriguing and heavily surprising.
