Public library staff in an Alabama town have locked up the library and walked off their jobs after the library's director was fired. The director had refused to remove 113 books with LGBTQ+ content from circulation after being ordered to do so by a library board dominated by right-wing Christian fundamentalists.

It's been really nice to use the printer. I was able to select some old digital photos of my late void so I can have physical copies and not worry about losing everything in case my computer or portable hard drive stops working. I like that I can just do it from home without having to travel out of my way to the nearest photo center.

Next up is to curate photos of my late torti girl. I've got all sorts of crazy ass photos of her lol.

My , aged 27, at in - 1979. Photo was taken by humanitarian aid workers to help get sponsored to go to Europe, Canada, USA & Australia, under asylum.

My Dad passed away June 9, 2023.
He went through hell & back, several times. He beat almost all odds. Until infection in hospital in 2022. killed him last year.

I miss him very much😪❤️‍🩹💗❤

    @jonobie I miss SyFy's Face Off. They had prosthetic makeup artists compete with each other with different themes each episode, and some of the creations were absolutely wild! I really liked that it wasn't set up as drama farming either; everyone was respectful of each other and had a good time.

    @mcnees I had never heard of Guillain–Barré syndrome before so I looked it up. Even though there's a decent survival rate, it still sucks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, and it sucks she wasn't one of the lucky ones.

    What are your thoughts on DNF (Did Not Finish)-ing books? Do you feel guilty about it? Do you worry you missed out on something? Or are you confident in dropping a book and reaching for the next one?

    At what point are you most likely to DNF, if ever? What sorts of things cause you to DNF?

    @skaeth @bookstodon It's a bit sporadic because my interest in reading is dictated by my ADHD. But if I had to guess I'd say 60% I drop them. It doesn't matter if it's fiction or nonfiction.

    Oh god, another person banging on about the smell of books. There should be a support group for this weird fetish. People are reading, let them do it the way they want to.

    @timrichards @bookstdoon They act like people can't or don't have both, felt inferior when they thought they were the only one with a physical copy, and ended the article feeling smug that someone's e-reader got water on it. That's an unnecessary complex to have.
