@Npars01 @GottaLaff I think you really have to add discrediting experts/education as a precursor to #2 at least but really it feeds into several of these. Schools, libraries, science, , CDC, they are attacking all independent sources of knowledge so they can sell their b.s. as the "truth."

Although sparked by the acquittal of 4 white police officers who beat Rodney King, the roots of the 1992 Los Angeles riots can be traced back through decades of racial, economic, & political tensions. Therefore, to understand the magnitude & depth of anger that fueled the riots, one must consider the historical context that set the stage for this tumultuous event.

@Deglassco I was on a business trip to NJ sitting in the hotel bar when this film hit the news. The guy next to me turned out to be FBI in town to bust some doctor the next day.

I said something about the cops being out of control and he tried to defend them with "You don't know what it is like out there."

Rather than argue with him over that I said, "I understand that but this!" while waving my hand at the tv.

He looked down at his drink and said nothing. He couldn't defend it.

    @PJ_Evans @JamesGleick @Teri_Kanefield @qwosl @GottaLaff Yup, the federal government has no role in overseeing elections. Therefore Meadows as a government employee had no role. Nor did Trump as President. Trump as candidate had an interest certainly as did his campaign. But Meadows wasn't part of the campaign.

    @bjornivarsson @GottaLaff Multiple counts on previous charge would be my guess. In other words if it goes 1, 2, 3, 5 that would mean two counts on charge #3. Typical number arrangement for lists where "ties" occur.

    acwhite,
    @acwhite@mastodon.social avatar

    @bjornivarsson @GottaLaff Yes, that is a very serious list of charges and it makes sense to have multiple counts on most of them.

    Question: Is there a website/app which will let you search a person's name to see which primary they voted in?

    acwhite,
    @acwhite@mastodon.social avatar

    @BlackAzizAnansi Not to the best of my knowledge. However, that information is available in the voter files maintained by the state and/or county.

    I can only speak definitively about New York state where the voter files are maintained by the counties (NYC being the exception as it encompasses 5 counties) and gathered together by the state.

    There you can look up a persons voting record and see when they have voted. Other states are undoubtedly similar. VAN and other voter software... 1/2

    @Teri_Kanefield @annabower As you say... "Four criminal indictments since leaving office! Trump is setting some kind of record. It’s incredible. Believe me, nobody gets indicted better than Trump. People are saying that he’s the best at getting indicted. That loser Obama never even got indicted once. Even Hillary Clinton couldn’t manage it. But here is Trump, winning with all of these bigly and huge indictments." -

    I don't know how to describe it but this post 2016 society has kinda broken me in a way that I can't describe. Yes, I get it, "Lol things have always been bad" blah blah blah, but this dystopian shit is something different. I think the combination of just seeing how comfortable people have become just being outright cruel and bigoted combined with the apathy and just flat out resignation of folks who may be decent, but they've just normalized all of this bullshit killed my youthful spirit.

    acwhite,
    @acwhite@mastodon.social avatar

    @BlackAzizAnansi Yeah, it's always been bad but this is worse. It has progressively gotten worse even as it has been getting better in some ways. All I can hope is that this the dying last gasps of the hate.
