I had to read an XML book because of that hype, but no one was able to tell me for what I was learning XML. I asked so many questions about what use cases they thought about but got no answer. A few years later I used XML standards for API's and data sharing.

2 hours now trying to set up the Samsung fridge, creating accounts left and right, registering the product etc. and it turns out that you can't adjust any of the settings on it unless you use their app, and the fridge has to connect to Wi-Fi, and it isn't seeing my network, and I'm supposed to move my router closer to the fridge, and then dive into the network settings and change Mac addresses and forward ports and what the fuck knows else

Like I said, you should never buy a "smart" anything

So far my experience in Berlin vs in Munich is that people are much more likely here in Berlin to continue speaking in German with me, even after hearing me speak English (I mean this as a positive).

I try to speak German as much as possible, but in Munich people switched to English very quickly. In Berlin so far only one person has asked if I wanted to speak English.

In both cities the vast majority of people have been very polite and welcoming either way.

@afilina I would have started at a young age too, but my mother didn't allow me to have a computer at that time. She was afraid it would be too much of a distraction. 😔

At least I did concept art for game ideas at young age. 😄

Because Voyager 1 is so far from Earth, it takes almost 23 hours for a command to reach it at the speed of light, and the same for a response to reach us back, for a total of close to 50 hours.

Which means that interactions with Voyager 1, currently around 15 billion miles away, are still faster than many Microsoft Windows updates.

It was possible to influence search engines by having text that's colored the same as the background color in the early days of automatic indexing webpages.
